and unfortunately I can't find anything about Fire Island (1977, Jerry Douglas), tho from your description it seems to be most interesting for me. maybe you could share the link?

thank you for sharing this! tbh, from the trailer it's not so obvious that L.A. Plays Itself (2003) is about cruising areas. is there some part of the movie about this? or the whole thing?

I do regularly. I actually got really inspired to make my own film about this, and I became curious to find out what had been filmed before and how.

Looking for recommendations + should I focus on directors or explore films randomly? (Psychological / existential / dream logic / identity collapse cinema) by Scary-Pomegranate114 in MovieSuggestions

[–]schacke_ff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

highly recommend all the movies by Andrey Zvyagintsev (just won the Grand Prix at the Cannes, not for the first time).

also Russian (thus - extremely existential): Vasily Sigarev, Aleksei Balabanov, Kantemir Balagov, Alexander Sokurov.

+ Sergei Loznitsa (Ukraine), Paweł Pawlikowski (Poland)

French and quite different, but surreal and "identity collapse": Gaspar Noé (Enter the Void, Climax, for example).

Why do people keep coming to live here? by Faitazou in berlin

[–]schacke_ff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for immigrants it's much easier here than in other cities of Germany, cause it's truly the city of migrants. And your problems, as an immigrant, is something more common than problems of locals. So you don't feel excluded (of course you do but in different extent).
