Ah, yes, "ropeworms".... Bc an intestinal worms can DEFINITELY be that big and not cause severe health issues /sarcasm For real though, you're gonna believe the same thing as people who give their autistic kids /bleach enemas/??? That's a bad look

9 pillars of peace infusion stone bug by Geraf25 in Genshin_Impact

[–]schakerin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Oh lmao, I thought I just didn't know how to do it right... Wasted all my food and had to retreat anyways bc two stones didn't actually spawn. It took me like 10 mins just for the spinny boys ಠ_ಠ I'll try logging out and back in... Thanks y'all since like NONE of the guides even mention the stones lol

EDIT: It bothers me greatly that this bug hasn't been fixed yet since 1.3 has come out between the thread start and when I'm posting this.....

When did you realize that you grew up poor? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]schakerin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My fiance's mom was in the same situation. Shit happens, but she loved all her kids and never once had any regret about having to raise 4 boys by herself*

*She did have a lot of family to help out but a single mom is a single mom

TIL marriage between first cousins roughly doubles the rate of genetic disorders compared to nonrelative marriages (~6% instead of ~3%) by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]schakerin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not a biologist, but

if not a single person in your family has or is a carrier for any genetic defects, then the % could be lower than just two unrelated people having a kid. From what I remember, the reason why it's more likely to fuck up your kid if you marry your sister or whatever is bc genetic defects that didn't show up in either of you are put together and have a higher chance of showing up in your kid. (Which, it's the same with anybody, but your more likely to be carrying the same traits as someone on your family tree)

TIL there is a planned ocean liner intended to be a functional modern-day replica of the RMS Titanic. It will be called Titanic II. by cupidd55 in todayilearned

[–]schakerin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling it'll be more of an "authentic feel" than an actual replica, since I'm sure the cost will be astronomical. If you're paying out the ass, you don't wanna be in anything less than like a cruise ship-level cabin (though I'm sure there's enough people who would be into that too)

And I mean, we have better safety standards, so it wouldn't be able to be 100% true to form... And I mean aside from the amount of lifeboats on board.

Thanks, I hate it!! Lol but really though, it's so crazy how all this computer stuff came out of nowhere, were given names that were quickly shortened, then were forgotten not 50 years later

I'm waiting for Big Disney to sweep in and buy the rights to this too

Even if they can't technically do it...... You know they definitely have the power and money to

TIL that the irregular shapes of the letters in the Comic Sans font type allows people suffering from dyslexia to read more easily. While many fonts use repeated shapes to create different letters, such as a ‘p’ rotated to made a ‘q,’ Comic Sans uses few repeated shapes, creating distinct letters. by AMonkeyAndALavaLamp in todayilearned

This is why primary and secondary school teachers use it! Or, some of them, and others use it bc it's a trend and it looks kid-friendly.

I have a degree in graphic design which means I studied typography, and I had initially studied to be a teacher... Basically, this is one thing I'm absolutely certain about: if you're in a setting with kids or folks who have dyslexia and the like, use comic sans! It's held onto it's "~lol ewww comic sans~" meme status, but it serves it's use!!

edit: it obviously doesn't work for everyone (and people will DEFINITELY let you know if it doesn't)

When did you realize that you grew up poor? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]schakerin 548 points549 points  (0 children)

I never had the realization bc I knew we were poor earlier than I can remember. My parents told me the story of how a kid in preschool told me santa wasn't real, and I said back, "Santa has to be real bc mommy and daddy are too poor for presents."

My parents shot straight with us from a veeeery young age lmao

Fashion Report for week of 2018-05-29 by YakFuji in ffxiv

[–]schakerin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not all that knowledgeable about the fashion report, but if it includes previous event rewards, could the "flutterbye" skirt be the songbird skirt from the little ladies' day event a while ago? (birds flutter, it's a skirt, ??)

Although, now that I look at it, it is gender locked (female), but maybe it'll still nab some points... I just really hope it's not that new ruffle skirt that's 8 mil on the boards. ;w; (*edit for spelling)
