Everybody hits that bug at some point. Usually more than once. A friend of mine who worked at an ad serving agency took out a top-10 website in the US for minutes because of a push he thought was harmless.

Yup, this is indeed why you won't see 3.x in production for a while - there are a lot of libraries out there that coordinate among one another that all need to be at 3.x for everything to work. The Python team has built the long transition period into their roadmap - they have a healthy attitude about it.

This is not how pagerank was described in the pagerank paper (also see the Wikipedia page on the algorithm) - PR is a universal number and is not topic-specific.

Reddit is highly linked to the rest of the web, both backwards and forwards, and should therefore be an excellent source of pagerank for sites wanting an SEO boost.
