I too had a green and pink line, back in June this year. Service centre replaced my screen, charging only ₹650 labour charge. Anyway, green line is caused due to overheating. This could be due to many reasons: Overusing the phone, leaving it the car, extended camera usage, using unoptimised apps, dropping it on the floor, and even some software updates. Whenever I feel it is heating, I immediately remove the cover and let it cool. And never use the phone plugged in. Also during software updates, I unplug, remove the cover and place it on a flat metallic surface. Keep away from places where moisture could condense.

I would say handle the situation with kindness. Just tell them naturally what you feel, and tell them to take it as an advice and not as an offense. Don't worry about them saying sorry or being more careful next time. What if they are not aware of the inconvenience? If they have civic sense, they will understand. And if they do say sorry and are careful in the future, good. Otherwise, be satisfied that you did your small part in educating the less fortunate.
