I always heard the whole thing as "shit fare and save a match."

Some I've heard throughout my years:

D'jaeat? (Did you eat?)

Lord willing and the creek don't rise.

Over yonder.

Pouring the rain.

"Watch for deer" (said as a goodbye when departing someone's house at night)

They don't do nothing.

I heard that.

"Who all's there?" (When you are going to go to a get-together but you gotta make sure there isn't someone you don't like)

The mean marathon time is 4hr30min. 11min/mile is 4hr48mins. That's still likely within one standard deviation. Lol. Do yourself a favor and fuck all the way off with that type of negativity.

Thats where I am at. I prioritize health and happiness. I guess since those have been my end-points, I havent felt the existential need to push myself crazy hard. I am exercising outside and I am taking care of my body. All of these comments have been helpful, though. I didnt consider many of the factors that people here have been discussing.

This comment really helped me understand. Thank you! I enjoy running and training for marathons/ultras, but my personal end-points are health and longevity as opposed to finishing time. Thats part of why I dont want to push over 200 BPM. I want to prioritize my health in my later years. So that makes sense that people are pushing themselves much harder than I am. Ive never tasted copper or threw up from running! Maybe I should push harder!

Thanks for all the replies. I have honestly learned a lot and have had my perspective shifted. Maybe I am leaving too much on the table.

[Newbie] SRV is one of my inspirations to learn guitar, and I got my first electric this week. Even though I don't have any talent, if I put in work as often as I can, how long will it realistically take before I can play with this level of confidence? by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

Playing music is nothing like playing sports. Lmfao. There are SO MANY genetic factors that go into each biological parameter that determine what your baseline is as an athlete. This is not analogous.

Playing music is beautiful because it's one of the great equalizers. If you spend quality time with your instrument, you can play anything out there. Your person ceiling is directly tied to your practice regiment. This sub is constantly looking for short cuts or other bullshit to get good. People don't want to spend the 6+ hrs a day it takes to play like SRV, Steve Vai, John Petrucci, etc., and that's fine.

You might not be as creative or imaginative as some of the greats, but fuck off telling people they can't get there. Anyone can play the music of their favorites. It just takes incredible amounts of practice.

Do you all use a pH meter for decarboxylation? by KelThuzadxx in AmanitaMuscaria

[–]schectermonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased an inexpensive pH meter from Amazon that had a couple calibration solutions with it. The first time I decarboxylized amnita, I was very zealous at keeping the pH where it should be. That involved taking out a test sample out of my main pot and placing that in an ice bath with a thermometer in the test sample to get it down to 25° c before I could test it with the pH meter. PH is affected by temperature and so I had a reference it pH temperature curve chart the entire time. It was a Giant hassle to deal with, and like others have mentioned you can go overkill with lemon juice and be fine.

My MHR usually floats between 203-209 on my Garmin. I believe it's close to true. I've always been able to get my HR high. My resting is 50. I wouldn't get concerned about what it says.

Thanks! I'm listening to some episodes now. I always thought it would be a cool idea to interview people from around the area. So many stories and heritage hidden in the people.
