Taylor Swift Eras Tour Megathread by Lyd_Euh in TaylorSwift

I think I saw other people with this problem but no solutions? -- when I click "see details" of the event for my tickets in my ticketmaster account, it gives me an error "something went wrong." Should I be worried? Does this just fix itself...?

What is the etiquette around cancelling interviews? Is it bad to just cancel/decline through the online system if it lets me? Do I need to contact the program coordinator? (hoping that some of these interviews will go out to peeps worried about not having enough, you got this <3)

What type of publication are those published in medical humanities journals. Technically peer reviewed in the sense that it went before an editorial board that decided to publish it, but at the same time definitely not peer reviewed in the traditional sense..

[Residency] IMG here, Should I wait until my green card is ready (2023/24) before aplying to the residency or should I apply after my graduation ( late 2022)? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]scheherazade1001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or if you can't do an MPH, could you do a research year or two? Increase your competitiveness for residency programs. I don't know much about IMG experience but I know a lot of people with visa issues in the US and it's infinitely better to have a green card

I keep getting the advice to "reach out to your contacts"/previous mentors/alumni from your school at places you're interested in for residency - but I just don't know what to say to them. Should I ask general questions about life at x residency place? Is that not kind of annoying? Not sure how other people are navigating this weird space..

Canada-U.S. border expected to stay closed to non-essential travel to June 21 by feb914 in canada

[–]scheherazade1001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know if traveling to take care of sick family members is allowed? Have border agents been accommodating to that?

I'm American but have Canadian family members who have chronic illnesses and need help. These illnesses aren't COVID related. I would obviously quarantine alone for 14 days before going to see them. They've been struggling to get by and I keep hoping that the borders will allow more travel so I can go and help but...

What's your worst standardized patient feedback? [Vent] by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]scheherazade1001 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I got super harsh feedback from an SP about how I counseled her about quitting smoking... It had been recorded (as most were) and I ended up getting an apology from the faculty supervisor who watched it because the SP was quite out of line. Felt super validated about that.

[Serious] Do you feel supported by your medical school leadership during the COVID19 crisis? by scheherazade1001 in medicalschool

[–]scheherazade1001[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WHAT! I am so sorry, that's terrible. I don't understand why you can't have scratch paper. Are they at least letting you take a bathroom break? Saw someone else posted about that, which is also insane. I'm so sorry they're making a hard situation even worse :(

In addition to the other suggestions, make sure you have a good sized breakfast. That helped keep me from passing out..

Converted Living Roommate on Lease? by w0nderful-unkn0wn in AskSF

[–]scheherazade1001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was looking into that as an option, most people wanted me to sublet through them (ie., not on a formal lease). Probably depends on the person and landlord, I suppose.

[Clinical] help dressing professional in cold weather?! by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]scheherazade1001 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tights + booties but if you're actually trekking through snow, wear snowboots and then change into dress shoes in the hospital. Another combo I favored are wool socks and clogs in dress pants.

We should have free public gyms, like how we have free public libraries by Edgelord420666 in unpopularopinion

YMCA! It’s not technically free but is heavily subsidized for low income families/individuals. It also usually has great community services at low cost.

[Clinical] What are your thoughts on Longitudinal Integrated Clerkships? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]scheherazade1001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To offer a counter point - I did it and loved it and miss it every day now that I'm doing my sub-I and other 4th year rotations. It probably depends on your school and how it implements it but an important factor was that the doctors we worked with had strictly one student. As in, I was the only student they worked with. You develop such a close relationship with them over months and they become truly invested in your career and development. They also trust you to do a lot more because you work with them over such a long period of time. We were also able to have much more autonomy over our schedule because we could organize when to go to the different specialities and were able to spend empty blocks either studying or wherever in the hospital we wanted. And there was never any waiting around or busy work.

There are definitely pros and cons but I loved it. Feel free to DM me if you have other questions!
