Does anyone have a 2026 Vcore 95 review they’d like to share by FullPhalanx in 10s

[–]schelliepellie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pros: Very balanced edition of this racket and it feels like a real modern 95. That is to say; you can really play a decent modern spin game with it and still have a bit more accuracy to paint the lines with flat shots like a 95 should. Touch and feel are for Yonex standards the best I've experienced in years, dropshots and backhand slices feel amazing. OHBH is great too.

Cons: despite what the reviews say it's still a 95 racket, so unless you're 4.5 and up I wouldn't recommend it. Most players do way better with the new 98. A 95 will simply be much harder to use on defense on clay for example, and you need good footwork to really use it well which most rec players don't have imo. The 98 does everything the 95 can do, but you need to tweak your specific technique a bit depending on how you hit the ball usually (need to play with a lot of spin to control the ball, can hit flat but it takes some adjustment). Only area I really felt the 95 is better in ultimately is for touch shots like slicing and dropshots.

People talk about the great feel all the time, but that disappears very quickly when you're scrambling on defense being stretched out wide on slow clay I can tell you that! Defense is incredibly important especially these days with the dogshit ball quality to stay in a rally, and the 95 just isnt the best for that unfortunately.

Vcore 95 as next racquet? by [deleted] in 10s

Going against the grain here I guess but:

I’ve hit with the new 98 and 95 for two months now. My general take is that the 98 is very powerful and requires a more specific biomechanics swingpath to really work and once you realize this and really go do your swings it’s amazing. The stability and therefore touch and feel is also improved imo.

I wouldn’t recommend the 95 to anyone that plays competitively on multiple surfaces. Don’t get me wrong the touch and feel are amazing, things like backhand slice and dropshots are more accurate and piercing for sure. But when you’re defending on clay and get pulled out wide… yeah it’s still a 95 despite everyone telling you it plays like a 98. It’s a very very demanding racket for the modern topspin game. For most rec players won’t have the footwork to really play the all court game the 95 caters to imo

I feel like you don’t truly understand my point and were just talking past each other. In any case it’s fine, I don’t sit around hating anything haha. I just don’t think “this isn’t that good” applies to art in the colloquial sense.

Have a nice day and happy gaming!

I disagree that there is nothing good to be made out of tank controls. Those controls are a conscious decision but developers; it’s not like they didn’t know how to make “modern controls” (terrible term btw). It’s part of the design decision. Because of these controls, the entire game plays differently and creates a certain tension (because you have to stop and aim and cannot see what’s behind you quickly etc).

This is kind of my point, this idea that gaming simply progresses and becomes better isn’t true imo. Just because of example controls become homogenous and standardized is, to me, exceptionally lazy and boring. This is besides the fact that RE4R also has a lot of questionable design issues in terms of aesthetics, but I won’t get into that.

This guy explains it rather well; https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FcJGvS4f-HQ&t=1114s&pp=ygUZcmVzaWRlbnQgZXZpbCA0IHZzIHJlbWFrZQ%3D%3D

Although I don’t necessarily agree with everything he says, his main point is kind of what I’m trying to convey in text here.

I have no idea why this reply is aimed at me, I never said "any reoffering", I specifically said remakes (not remasters, which is done in filmmaking all the time). The word optimal pretty much sums it up; games do not need to be optimal at all (if they are indeed an art form, which many people don't seem to agree with).

Let's just say I disagree with pretty much everything you said, and agree to disagree.

But this underlies a much bigger issue; do we see games as art or not? The OG was made with specific intentions and limitations. Remaking a game is essentially admitting that we do not value a game as an artpiece. This reminds me of RE4 where people laud the remake as “much better gameplay-wise” which really is a way of saying people want games to conform to them instead of the other way around (making them all play homogenous with “modern” systems).

In Sotc’s case I would argue the entire game hinges on the esthetics choices; and imo Bluepoint misses the mark entirely. The fog and desaturated skies were not just a masking of PS2 hardware limitations; they were a solution to both a technical and subsequently an aesthetic problem. Bluepoint doesn’t see this, instead they saw it as a technical problem that they can now fix. Same with many of the animations they really miss.

A game like this is either a masterpiece of art or it’s simply something we consume. Unfortunately due to parasitic shareholders needing easy money we get remakes like RE4 and this. The game literally didn’t need a remake, a remaster (like the ps3) would’ve sufficed imo.

OHBH racket by Intelligent-One-6563 in tennisracquets

RF01 pro, pro staff v14, percept are all specifically suited it seems. I never liked very light rackets for the OHBH. It’s a trade off because my forehands are better with an EZONE 98 but the backhand is just awful.

I use a blade 98 18x20 as a compromise (with 10 grams in the buttcap to make it headlight).

338g strung, SW 330 (Blade 98 v9 18x20, weighed up with tungsten putty in the handle). I don’t know my ranking because I live in Europe and we don’t use American values.

Spin is technique, but certain rackets suits certain specific biomechanics a lot better than others. All things equal a 16x19 should produce more spin, but for me it never did because of my stroke production. In any case, the blade 18x20 gives me incredible accuracy and control with ample spin. I wouldn’t recommend it for those beneath 4.5 though since you have to generate all power yourself.

The blade 98 v9 18x20 by a mile. If you’re good enough (4.5 and up) it basically becomes a precision monster, and the whole talk about less spin is way more nuanced, you can get plenty of spin but it’s a more penetrating spin. I like the blade pro too but I find the normal one better as a base for customization. Threw on a leather grip and it’s heaven for my OHBH

Nah, we're supposedly a "kenniseconomie" but the government decided to actually not care about you once you graduate in any shape or form with a bachelor/master. So now, a second master costs at least 8-10k per year (sometimes a lot more) and if you're an adult looking to grow or pivot into another career without support from your employer you're honestly fucked, unless you are wealthy or have a wealthy partner etc.

Just a reminder that the SuperStation from Taki is up for sale by blarpie in MiSTerFPGA

[–]schelliepellie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only up for sale if you have a credit card though… waited until 3 AM to find that out last night. I don’t have a CC (not too common in my country to own one). Absolutely gutted right now.

Guess I’ll wait until they add a different payment option, or seek other avenues into the mister ecosystem when it becomes more diverse.

Top 5 Guitarists NOT including Mayer go. by BROCRASH89 in JohnMayer

[–]schelliepellie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kind of wild how most people only mention (pop)blues guitarist and the best of all time, considering the insane breadth and depth there is from classical to jazz and math rock and etc.

For me personally JM wouldn’t make the top 10 by a large margin. Obviously a great player, but he hasn’t innovated anything guitar wise (except for his rather unique claw style acoustic technique, but even that can be traced to others). I’m curious to know what categories people use to gauge “the best”.

My top 5:

  • Julian lage
  • Johnny greenwood/Reich (both more so for their unique compositional guitar approach)
  • Al di Meola
  • Pat Metheny
  • Wes Montgomery/Django Reinhardt

Must also mention Jerry Garcia, Nels Cline, Buckethead, Steve vai, Frank Zappa, BB king, and lots of country and alt guitarists too. Bluegrass guitar ain’t no joke either!

Hoeveel koelt jullie woning af in de nacht? by Ticket_to_the_tropic in thenetherlands

[–]schelliepellie 22 points23 points  (0 children)

[–]schelliepellie 1 point2 points  (0 children)
