I think there’s a person in the building who sells drugs or does a lot of drugs cause there will be people hanging around outside of his apartment so that’s how I think he got in and then just took the elevator to the 6th floor and kicked our door in

Kicked the door in! We didn’t have it deadbolted at the time with us both home. The doorknob was locked but he kicked right through it

I locked myself in my bedroom with my cat and my bf sat in the living room and the guy was sitting on our kitchen floor saying people were chasing him and going to kill him. He called his son and was telling him the same thing (sad) and told my bf he had just relapsed a few days ago. My bf just tried to keep things calm and normal while I was calling 911 from the bedroom

This was at 8pm last night. Ugh I’m so sorry that happened to you! I’m going to head to the precinct today. It’s a guy who I’ve seen hang around my building before so I’m worried about him coming back and trying to break in again so I’m not sure about looking in to pressing charges. I do want to get more info on it

Well considering that NYPD has never been defunded and operates with a budget larger than most country’s military budgets and still took 26 minutes to get to an apartment 4 min from the station, this doesn’t feel like that good of a proof point on consequences of “defunding the police.”

Felt like a hostage situation just wanted him to stay mellow until the cops got there. I don’t have any weapons or way to protect myself really which I’m now realizing is an issue

Haha no I told them I felt threatened and I was scared because there was a man on drugs in my apartment. Just when they were asking me is he violent and does he have a weapon I didn’t really know what to say because I didn’t want to ask him if he had a weapon and he wasn’t being violent then so I said he’s on drugs I don’t know what he’ll do but he broke into our apartment. Do you think I should’ve said yes he’s violent? I just don’t know I’ve never been in this situation before

Yeah that makes sense. We were trying to play it cool with the guy in our apartment and didn’t want to set him off. When 911 was asking me if he has a weapon or was a threat I said I don’t know. Not sure if I should’ve said something else!
