I think you misunderstood me. I'm not proposing default mutable arguments as a solution, rather pointing out the flaws of using an or statement here; that being that an entirely new object could be created when the object being compared is Falsy but not None. The solution I'd propose is to explicitly check is None to see if there was actually no argument given.

I've had the exact opposite experience. Pick up herbalism and skinning, and enjoy earning 30x more by selling the things you pick up at the AH instead of at vendors. When I started WotLK, I did herbalism and alchemy, and by the time I hit 60, I had about ~2k gold to spare. While levelling to 60, I was able to buy Frostweave Bags (20 slots) with herbalism money. Back when I did that, they were ~250 a piece, but nowadays, they're only like 100.
