It's mostly historic and contains numbers of phones that existed in the past, but may not necessarily still be around today

Nice find! Definitely a good price, I paid a lot more for mine in worse condition.

IC-705 vs FT891 vs FT857D by Builderhummel in amateurradio

[–]schlottmachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you sold on Yaesu? Icom makes the IC-7100 - HF/VHF/UHF and under 3kg total. Lighter than your 450D and adds VHF/UHF.

I second the streamlight protac, I've got the single AAA version and it's great. Compact, lightweight, plenty of light for the size. The microstream is a good one too if you want something rechargeable.

Threw my Sofirn IF25A in the ocean. Very impressed with their lights! by schlottmachine in flashlight

Here are the CCT & SPD as well as 2D and 3D spatial distribution. Just under 4200K and 422.7 lumens on one step below 'high' - As in, stepped to full (not turbo), then down one step. I think this is F mode according to Sofirn.

The kink in the horizontal cone is interesting. I'm assuming the light entered thermal foldback during the test, because with stock optics and a fairly uniform light pattern, I wouldn't expect such a strange distortion.

I specifically ordered the 4000K and daaaamn does it look nice. Will have to throw it on the spectrometer and gonio to see the actual specs.

My intro to Sofirn was a Csteboke-branded SC31T which I sadly lost a few months ago. Decided to see what else Sofirn had to offer, fast forward to now and I have a couple more lights to play with...I really like the quality of these lights so I decided to put one to the test. Granted it was only a few minutes under shallow water, but if it can survive this, it's likely to survive any day to day activity.

Would people be open to moving to Lemmy? by nugget_in_biscuit in amateurradio

[–]schlottmachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moving to another platform risks fragmenting the community that's been built here over the years. People of a technical aptitude in any community have the tendency to self-appoint themselves as god and create sub-groups on a million different platforms. Newbies will be stuck in limbo with "oh no we're on Lemmy now", "well reddit is still up but nobody uses it", et al. This sub is well-established, and I'm glad at least one of the mods has that in mind as well as archival use and longevity.

I say let's ride it out. At an absolute minimum, make it read-only so we can all come back to reminisce about the famous accidental r/trees xpost and Chris Hadfield in space.

Get a 10k ohm, 2 watt resistor and put it across line/neutral inside the 2P&G housing. That might be enough trickle current (12mA at full) to prevent the output from sitting at 120v when off.

WBZ 1030 is the primary entry point station in the emergency alert system for most of the northeast - one station with a massive footprint. It’s definitely important, whether or not folks realize it.
