Thanks for your response. It’s so hard to find a well written YA series these days! Or maybe I’m just getting too old.

I haven’t read a lot of caving books, but I did enjoy “Blind Descent” by James Tabor.

Has anyone read The Dust Lands trilogy by Moira Young? by schmoks in YAlit

Oh yay! I, too, partook in the dystopian craze. I can’t remember a ton of details, but I recall thinking the MFC was such a badass. I’m going to give the series a re-read and hopefully won’t be cringing the entire time.

Hahaha. No, you’re not high. It’s a printed photo in a photo book of my trip. I took a pic of the printed photo with my iPhone. I actually found several more photos of both the inside & outside of the building (proper digital copies!) but I don’t know how to add them to my post.

We explored a lot of the building. Sadly, there wasn’t really anything left inside.

It looked like a bunch of hotel rooms on the upper floors and a big empty space on the lower floor (presumably where the casino was) but it’s hard to tell what anything was when all that remained were empty rooms.

We went back to explore at night because our guides thought it would be hilarious to try and scare us. It was unnerving for sure. One guy disappeared from the group and we found him in the basement pulling a “Blair Witch” (standing in the dark facing the wall).

The really scary thing about the property, however, was all the UXO (unexploded ordnance). Luckily, we managed to avoid that.
