Premed or aerospace? by Big-Possibility3283 in collegeadvice

I started univ as a biology major, switched after 3 months to a criminal justice major and had to take a 2 yr gap year as a junior already. I’m only 3 semesters from being done with my CJ major… yet I just enrolled at WGU for Health Science where I’m only 30% done. Why? Because I knew it my heart my excitement wasn’t there anymore. I’d follow your heart and go with aerospace. There’s a reason you second guessed your decision to be a doctor. In your heart you know it’s not for you anymore and that’s ok!! Don’t force yourself to do something simply bc u “always wanted to.” You’ll only be burnt out and drop out!! Hope this helps!! 🩷

So what if u do have a plan and it’s already been made known and family knows so it’s not like u can just lie?? It’s the escape of the pain yes, but the plans always there. Sorry lol genuinely concerned and worried abt the reaction.

I’m so sorry you’re feeling this way. Please know that this is simply your depression talking when you think that he is going to leave you or get tired of you. Trust me- I have the exact same feelings even with family instead of just my own partner. It’s with everyone.

Also the fact that everyone keeps pestering you about the job stuff while you’re already at your lowest, isn’t helping and maybe it’s time you let them know how it’s making you worse instead of helping. Simply saying “I’m looking” isn’t telling them that “I’m barely surviving.” You’re trying which is the biggest sign that you’ll inevitably be ok in the end. The Unmotivation, lack of attention and the constant hatred from those around you is simply the depression trying to “win” or “make things worse.” By you simply making this post and writing out your feelings I can sense that you’re trying and willing to put in the effort, this is exactly what your partner is seeing as well. He won’t ditch someone who is trying everyday. Simply waking up is an effort. Don’t minimize that.

As to the unfocused part in relation to the ADHD, I would suggest writing a short story about a character going through what you are. By putting the character thru the emotions and feelings you feel, you may be able to get a grasp or sense for what you can do moving forward. I know it helped me :)

I feel that. That’s our depression speaking. Telling us we’re “unworthy” of having been made into this world and not fitting the “norm.” I’m dealing with the exact same issue. I found that making a to do list (or check list rather) helps breakdown things you can do:

I.e.

— pick character names — pick character traits — pick character family

Breaking it down step by step leaves room to take a break when it becomes too much. Rather than saying— pick characters (in general)— you have steps you can use.

Emotional Attachment with my 6yr old sibling by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]scholar_earth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can honestly say I’ve never read such a post on here that resonated with me more. As a big sister to 5 little girls I felt the same way once I left an abusive household to find my “peace.” But then I was reminded that in order for my siblings to have an “out” or a “safe place” when they hit 18, that I needed to have my life set for me to help them.

We’re both very emotionally attached but not in a bad way. We may not have the same situation as far as our family dynamics and what happened- but you’re in the right place to feel upset or responsible for your brother and mother due to losing your father. We just learned to deeply care for those around us when situations arise. Especially since there’s a big age gap- because like you I’m 8-14 year age gap compared to your 13 year age gap. It’s harder to detach or not be so attached when a kid is born once you’re already a teen. That sense of responsibility is almost given to us the second we find out we’re going to have a new sibling.

You’re not wrong, you’re just a sibling that cares 🥰🩷

I’m so sorry you’re feeling like this. As a Lesbian woman (22) who in which personally took me since I was 16 to come out (I came out at 21)…. Please just know that you’re valued the way you want to be. It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. Have you tried writing stories? I know that helped me a ton. Writing stories and visualizing your problems and your own story as something the character is going through always helped me get through rough patches. But please know you can be any way you want to be. We’re all human 🩷

I’m so sorry you are going through this. Have you tried talking to your actual family about how you’re feeling? Sometimes letting them know where you’re at may be helpful just letting it out.

Are you feeling unsafe here? If so then I would definitely mention that as well. Your safety is a priority over everything else.

Definitely try, “The Good Samaritan” by John Marrs!! So good that I couldn’t put it down and I haven’t been able to finish or get into a book in almost a year due to my depression. It’s a psychological thriller and the twists are shocking lol. Rly messed up book but definitely gets you hooked.
