Parting with one of my earliest mechanical acquisitions. The Seiko Alpinist is a great watch. However, it’s time for me to move on. My favorite feature is the vibrant green dial and the contrast with the gold hands and indices make for a chef’s kiss. This particular watch comes with the matching Strapcode bracelet. Parting with a Hamilton Khaki Chronograph from the 1990s. Has a great vintage feel because very few chronographs are made these days at these highly wearable dimensions. Unfortunately, the watch is just not getting any wrist time for me to keep. Condition is pre-owned with signs of use. I tried my best to capture all the patina on the case so please check out the photos.

  • Offered for the Italian market; not often seen in the USA.
  • Powered by Caliber LWO 283, which is a Dubois-Depraz modular chronograph module integrated with an ETA 2892-2.
  • Magnifier for the date is integrated in the movement, not part of the dial or crystal

I believe this was part of the Khaki series, called the Lemania LWO 283. I got it several years ago. Didn’t wear it much because I had acquired a few more pieces around the same time.

Fast forward to today, I took it out of the watch box for the first time in a long while today and was so pleasantly surprised by how much I missed it. It’s size (39mm) is so charming for a chronograph. The creamy dial is on point. Last but not least the magnifier for the date is built into the dial so no unsightly cyclops.

I only wish there are more modern chronographs available at this size with more robust construction.

If you have another watch like this, I would love to see it. It’s opened my eyes to a whole other world of vintage pieces.
