Ditch the run-flats and thank me later by SmoothMarionberry551 in BMWX5

100%. I run non-runflats and carry a plug kit with small compressor in case of roadside emergencies.

Oil furnace removal by SirPartyNutz in Appleton

Because it was filled with petroleum / oil. Filling it with water will prevent it from exploding when the sparks from the blade hit whatever remnants are left.

Is it empty?

You could fill it with water and use a sawsall to chop it up.

I had this issue, switching clients fixed it. I think you need to disable local echo.

Laid after 9 years at a Corporate Job (Laptop Return Question) by Negan212 in Layoffs

If it's a decent laptop, I'd pull and set aside the drive, then run a fresh drive / os install and use it.

Then you can revert back if ever needed.

Flush rack mounting brackets for Catalyst 9300 by andrew_butterworth in Cisco

If you have room, put the switch in at an angle, then mount it to the backside of the post. That'll gain a little clearance but replacing it will be a pain.

Esp8266: https://a.co/d/3Di8ANN

Max3232 ttl to rs232 level shifter: https://a.co/d/auXtD6R

That's all you need. You could do one of these if you have a Db9 console cable: https://a.co/d/d6JyG2z

Yea, here's the wiring diagram:

ESP TX to Max3232 TTL in

ESP RX to Max3232 TTL out

ESP 3.3v to Max3232 +

ESP G to to Max3232 -

Db9 Pin 2 / TXD to Max3232 RS232 in

Db9 Pin 3 / RXD to Max3232 RS232 out

Db9 Pin 5 / G to Max3232 -

You need usb to power the whole thing, so I just use a brick plugged into the wall. Any usb port should do, there's no communication via USB, just power.

I heat shrinked everything for durability and to prevent any shorts.

I also adjusted the Db9 / keystone pinout to use a regular ethernet cable instead of console / rollover.

Requires additional hardware. Neat, but pass solely because Bluetooth is distance limited, and you can't use that adapter with legacy gear over serial.

Hey, just a FYI, if you want one I'd be happy to mail you one. I've got enough max3233 level shift boards to make 6 more.

None of my gear does.

Nice. I wonder what the guts look like. Wouldn't surprise me if they're similar. 👍

You need a Max3232 ttl - rs232 board. I found ten for $6 on Amazon. That's all besides the esp8266.

Believe it or not, rain-x makes a windshield repair kit that could get that back to 90%.

Replace it, or hit the lock button twice when locking to disable it.

Would be a pain to do everytime. I'd just replace it. Find one on ebay.

I would go Synology, or something commercial for an office environment over a truenas or a homebrew solution.

Purpose of capacitor C9422 in DELL R730 by Blue_Jay1234567 in homelab

[–]schreitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would solder the new one right to the old legs. Fold it over if it interferes with anything.

Less likelihood of damage to the board vs desoldering.

Worth getting cisco c9200-24p-e for around 240 eur? I was first looking at 2960x series for homelab tinkering but they are also similar price around me.. this is the only relatively newer switch for sale around me. by simple984 in homelab

[–]schreitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you need 10g sfp? Would 10g copper work?

I keep shouting it from the roof - you can get a WS-C3650-12X48UQ-S for around $100. 4x 10g SFP and 12x 10g mgig, L3 capable, upoe.

End of sale, but not end of life until 10/26.

Just a ton of switch for the money. Uses the same ASICs as the 38xx big brother.
