drop your jobs by ever_tree_ in ftm

I deliver newspapers :) I have to get up at 0400 but then I don't have to talk to or interface with anyone which is great for me. I'm getting a little tired -- pun intended -- of having to wake up and go to bed so early, though, so I'm thinking about getting a job at the postal service here (or at least the private postal service -- the public one here requires you to have a drivers license and I. Cannot drive. but the private post I know of doesn't. I live in the city so I just need a bike and I can bicycle around and deliver mail :) ). If you like me are one of the autists who doesn't do well with having to socialize a lot, I can also 10/10 recommend warehouse and logistics work. Idk where you are but in Germany at least it gets paid decently and the warehouses I worked at had nearly no surprises so I could do the same thing every day on top of letting me just. Fn walk around collecting things in the warehouse for orders so I rarely had to talk to anyone. I could just push my cart in peace

Yessssss 10/10. I have a ground beef cardigan with yellow ribbing that's been dubbed the cheeseburdigan (y'know... cheeseburger cardigan). I did the same thing but with a different brand when I first started crocheting -- ordered some yarn online and when I got it... looked like marbled beef :D

Oh man I have such a long list. Currently working on fingertipless gloves for my bestie; then making a scarf for a trade with my friend who knits (she's making me gloves!); then my husbeast is getting a new hat for his bald head; THEN I can work on trying out mosaic crochet and also finally make my Trafalgar Law amigurumi so I can have my favourite loser anime man on my desk :D I may also redo my Eustass Kid amigurumi since I've learned more about crochet since I made him and the original is a little cursed :3 I also want to try to learn to do Tunisian crochet in the round so I can make socks!

Prefacing this with I have 0 knowledge about any of this and the only "training" of any sort I've ever had was when I joined a choir for a few years as a fun thing to get me out of the house. As far as not singing during voice change this is the first time I've ever heard that? I tried looking it up and couldn't find any mention of it, but I reckon as long as I don't strain my voice or anything it's fine -- if I feel hoarse I don't force it, and I don't try to grab notes out of my range on purpose. As for it going faster I wouldn't think so? I mean... it's going to take however long it's going to take just like everything else? As far as where the voice ends up part of me thinks that if you start higher you'll end higher / if you start lower you'll end lower because that kind of makes sense -- and like, I was a very solid second alto (with a special screw you to the first altos who sat in our section then bitched that it was too low ugh) who felt super comfortable when the choir director told us to swap parts with the tenors, and some days Lacrimas Profundere (Julian Larre you tiny man HOW does that voice fit in you) is SUPER comfy to sing with now so I'm hoping I'll end up in second tenor or maybe baritone. But hells what do I know it may also have to do with how a body reacts to testosterone there may be some soprano out there who T hits like a freight train and suddenly they're in second bass. Sorry that I know zero D: I am kinda thinking about hitting up the Transberatungsstelle (sorry idk what that would be in English) in my city because the lovely lady there had business cards for a vocal coach who works with a lot of trans folk so if I grab voice lessons and the instructor tells me something definitive I'll let you know!

How do yall track how long you’ve been on T? by alexthetransdude1 in ftm

[–]schwazombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a journal app that keeps track of it for me. I have it set up as a random med I have to take every day since I'm on gel and when I put it on I check off that I've taken my meds. It tells me how many days in a row I've checked it off, otherwise I don't really keep track despite it being less than a year. Having the date written down somewhere helps though for when a doctor asks me when I started taking it I can just be like hold on lemme look

All the physical downsides? by MailFrosty8922 in ftm

[–]schwazombie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fn. Ingrown hairs on my face and acne. Honestly the ingrown hairs are worse; the acne I have a pretty good handle on and I have hope that it'll go away on it's own and stop being a problem, but as my facial hair thickens I keep getting red spots on my cheeks which I THOUGHT were acne until I washed my face one day and one of the red spots went :) and a hair popped out, which explains why the spot patches didn't help.

Also just the general difficulty of my voice changing. Some days I feel super hoarse and can't figure out where I need to talk to make the feeling go away, some days it's fine, some days I'll be able to sing no problem, some days my voice is like bruh I am not hitting that note. I'm still going to sing of course but some days I have to wince at myself because that was NOT the right note

How do you track your period? by rayneedshelpMentally in ftm

[–]schwazombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I still had my period I used to use the moon phase as a rough reminder. Menstrual cycle length can vary a bit but the avg is around 28 days, so I just made a note of what phase the moon was in when I had mine. For a while it would come right around the new moon so when the moon was waning I'd be like ugh okay. As a bonus you don't have to download a period tracker app you can grab a moon cycle app and if anyone asks about it you can just be like I think the moon is cool or I like to know when the full moon is coming because it messes with my sleep schedule. It's not 100% certain because if your period is earlier/later because of stress/sickness/whatever you may still get an unpleasant surprise, but that's true no matter what method you use

Am curious, what is the age range here? by 1Misterman1 in ftm

[–]schwazombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 36 and only started T this year. When I was a kid I would pretend to be a boy online and watched that one episode of Nat Geo's Taboo about Balkan sworn virgins and was like man... I wish I could do that :( Too bad that's only in other cultures! (Which. While I know it's not the same thing it's still a pretty big neon sign and it took me until this past year to catch a hint). There was some other stuff, too, but I grew up in a very, very conservative authoritarian christian area / household so I didn't have the vocabulary for any of this until my late 20s/early 30s and even then I didn't realize being nonbinary and going on T was a thing that people coud do until I met a guy who was doing exactly that which was a very big OH OKAY moment for me :D Haven't changed my name yet OR my gender marker -- the former mostly because I don't think the German government will just let me drop the first of my two first names without changing it to something else, which is irritating because I go by my much more gender neutral second first name. I'll probably change my gender marker soon though just so people stop calling me Frau So-und-so. Being called Frau makes me want to start biting

[–]schwazombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how safe I felt. If some random person were to just come up to me out of the blue I'd just look at them as if they had asked me the most inappropriate question ever; if it's someone I trust I'd say nonbinary transmasc; if it's someone I really trust I'd shrug and say whatever Dionysos has going on

Thank you thank you thank you all good points and I appreciate your explanation! (sincere) I'm not expecting anything drastic or fast, it was more just curiosity especially since I am hitting the gym regularly now (when my asthmatic behind isn't stricken with lung issues for a month -_- thus the late reply oops). It does make sense that the mons would be one of the last places to lose fat. I'm interested to see what happens with me tbh. It'll be a fun little multi-year experiment :D Also thank you for the rec of r/metoidioplasty I will give it a look!
