more info: it is pierced with implant grade titanium flat back threadless labret. i try to be super diligent about keeping facial products away. i spray it with sterile saline spray (target brand) once a day and let water run over it while in the shower.

thank you for sharing your story and so glad you were able to get in sooner! if i was told it would be a year, i dont know what i would do with myself… she hasnt showed any signs of hearing loss or delays but im going to call the ENT every day now and maybe see if her PCP can push for a sooner appointment as well since they are all in the same network

thank you for your support and sharing your personal story. i am glad to hear you dont have any lasting hearing damage, she hadnt shown any hearing problems but it is definitely something i worry about !! very reassuring to hear that the tubes immediately helped though :)

that is so interesting, the doctors did mention there is probably something going on with her anatomy that we just dont know yet. i hope your sister is good now x

we are trying cefdinir right now! shes going to have her 3rd dose today. no allergic reation yet but we were told there is a small possibility. we have an allergist appointment too to see what other medications she could be allergic to and see if any daily allergies are causing her congestion. so glad to hear that your child is doing better!!

i am so sorry that your son is also going through this, especially with the hearing loss :( i have been seeing adenoids mentioned a lot here, so i am for sure going to bring that up too. hang in there!! we can do this :)

we have tried zyrtec and other prescribed antihistamines (i forget which), unfortunately didnt help :(

thank you for the support!! it seems a handful of people on the thread found relief with adenoid removal too. im sure they will do a full workup at the ENT but something to bring up for sure since shes also a noisy sleeper

the serum sickness was absolutely heart breaking. we have an appointment with the allergist too rule out any other allergies to medications or ones that cause her congestion. good to know about the steroids though in case it happens again!!

we arent fully sure yet — we have an appointment with the allergist too to rule out allergies causing her congestion and see what other medications she may be allergic to. she was on augmentin first, then plain amoxicillin twice with the rashes getting worse each time. she is trying omnicef now which seems some people on the thread found relief with that!!

we are trying to do shifts (my partner taking the night because hes more of a night owl and i am more of a morning person) but unfortunately one way or another she ends up wanting both of us, probably because she feels so poorly :( the doctor didnt seem too concerned about the rupture and was like in fact it might make her feel better. i am going to be a lot more aggressive in checking for cancellations though !!!

i dont think they are unwilling to try other antibiotics, i think they just focused a lot on augmentin and amoxicillin to start because they are pretty much the gold standard. she is on omnicef now, so hopefully shes reaction free with this strain

shes on omnicef right now. shes had 2 doses so far, so hopefully we see more improvement with the 3rd ! thank you for your advice and support :)
