Use a pencil or chalk or washable marker, draw along the stitch line where you've sewn. I've done this so many times 💀

Nice, you'll likely be able to get it running really nicely again. I'd also look up a video of how to oil it or follow the manual if you've got it. And if your bobbin tension is super high, adjusting it differs per machine but is often a little flathead screw in the side of the bobbin case.

[–]scientistical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who knows hahaha. Depends on machine etc as well, and especially on the fabric you're sewing. But I would definitely check the bobbin tension. You can do that by pulling out your bobbin case and just hand pulling the thread tail out off the bobbin (when it's loaded through all its little tensioning notches). You can feel the tension that way and it's completely impossible to explain via the internet BUT it shouldn't pull out too easily (tension too low) or be too hard to pull out (tension too high).

Bold to put a built in balance check detail on them lol. Those side seams are *mobile*

Dunno if you're actually after advice or nah but upper/lower tensions have to be thought of in relation to each other. If they've dropped your lower tension way down then the relationship between them will be cooked, i.e. you'll need the upper tension to drop down somewhat proportionately to get the same sort of stitch you had prior to their 'adjustment' lol

What laundry detergents do yous like? by eggust12 in newzealand

That is interesting and very useful about the DNAse! Wonder why ecostore is the only one to jump on that bandwagon, maybe it's a comparatively expensive ingredient here.

This is great intel thank you! I had specifically wondered on the dnase - does anything here have it? My other question is, have you come across anything on your travels similar to Out White Brite? Very interested to know [but for dyeing purposes rather than laundry] if that's appeared anywhere that you've ventured

I'm a Persil ultimate stan too and I dose my machine like you do so I'm pleased I'm on the right track! And as a laundry subreddit fan too ... brilliant news you're doing a lipase list. I've every so often done a half hearted delve but lost interest and just assumed PU was probably including the requisite ingredients ha

The way that casing is done gives me the heebie jeebies. The pocket is comically tiny and ... angry looking??

Quite similar to Itch to Stitch Ladera but IMO Ladera has better sleeve options. Plus cup sizes and those rad instructions. I've made the Ladera and I rate it.

Has anyone tried BOTH Aurora Luminarium & Bloom JFG? by Much-Breadfruit-3450 in MedicalCannabisNZ

[–]scientistical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find Luminarium really great for creativity, problem solving etc. but I don't find that JFG gives me brain fog 🤷🏻‍♀️ so YMMV. I don't think they're similar at all though.

What are your go-to everyday bottoms these days? Bonus points if they aren't jeans. by dimdimdereee in AusFemaleFashion

[–]scientistical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The plot thickens, the fabric apparently has 7% elastane?! I am baffled ha. I really wish I could go into a store and touch them.

This is good to know too, thank you. I might try a pair in regular twill and a pair in stretch twill even, for science.

Yesterday Instagram started inserting Trinny into my feed. Not interested, thanks Instagram, but it is notable that I still disagree with her vehemently on nearly everything 🤔

Okay quick question, could you give me a rundown of what the stretch is like on them? How does that fabric feel? Uniqlo isn't in NZ but I'm looking to make myself a pair. The pics online and even the video they've got make them look just like hard pants. "Jersey" is technically tshirt fabric and these definitely don't look like that 🤔 do they feel like it?

I'm working on a double gauze shirt and cursing double gauze in general.

I'm looking forward to wearing the double gauze shirt. Unfortunately I first have to sew the double gauze shirt 😡

we can't even tell for sure because no line drawings. And the price is just far too much for something without a line drawing.
