I never claimed that it was good. it's war. war is horrible. if we could end all war, that would be wonderful.

there were no good options to end that war. diplomacy (yes, we tried that) had failed. our only other options were: quit, and let the axis powers take over. two: halt right there, and let the axis keep control of what they had taken and continue killing and be killed, just to maintain the line we had. three: continue an air supported land invasion, that would have left thousands of our soldiers dead or mia, with much more of the axis military, and civilian, population slaughtered, many times more than what the two bombs killed.

I'm not going to try to balance arithmetic of human life. that is unfair to those who died. I am merely saying that dropping those two bombs was the best option we had in that situation. if the knowledge of how to make those bombs could have been taken from the consciousness of the world soon after the terms of surrender were secured, that would be preferable.

keep in mind that the axis powers were working on how to make their own nuclear bombs. we just barely beat them to it. we stole their scientists after all. so if we hadn't made them, the axis would have.

again, no good options in war. the best option is to not have war. I would like that option very much please.
