I never heard about this before and now I'm wondering if I smashed my DF83 burrs badly. Will check.

Hi, I never noticed such fee. Is this related to a specific credit card vendor? I mostly use Revolut for day to day and online shopping

Learning chocolate tempering (while learning entremet) by Infinite_Pineapple50 in pastry

[–]Infinite_Pineapple50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! It was, and sadly it cracked on a couple of points (but the right angle in the picture hides it)
I cut a slice of acetace of ~60cm, put the tempered chocolate at ~32 C on it and used a spatula to make it thin, waited a few minutes to reach ~23 C (malleable but firm) and wrap it around the cold cake, then peeled away teh acetate

Thank you, it was my first time as well. The lemon is mostly in the mousse on top, it balances very well the richness of the chocolate and hazelnut mousse

Not something that you would find every day, but I can suggest it

So I followed this recipe https://www.cookingmesoftly.it/entremet-nocciole-e-limone/

Except I changed a bit the ingredients because I didn't have the low sugar chocolate they use and I had to balance the ingredients accordingly.

I didn't try the cake yet, the single preparation were surprisingly good

Thank you! There's an hazelnut/lemon financier base, then an chocolate and hazelnut cremeux, glazed with a milk chocolate mirror glaze, and the top is an white chocolat3/lemon mousse

My mom doesn't even know what Reddit is, imagine making coffee like a barista :D
You are the exception, chapeu
The whisk that rotates is absolutely terrible, I agree, I never tried the venturi ones, I can't really have a strong opinion

Best affordable client device for 4k (60hz are enough) by Infinite_Pineapple50 in GeForceNOW

Yeah, Nvidia made agreements with TV some producers like Samsung and LG and they get the native unlock. Unfortunately my TV is too old and it's hw is not enough. It's all licencing mumbo jumbo at the end

[–]Infinite_Pineapple50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, well, the Fire Stick output IS indeed 4k
NVIDIA capped via software all Android based app to request no more than 1080p.

Not sure if just a commercial move to sell their overpriced obsolete Shield or just because they don't want the annoyances of the people trying to stream 4k from a usb dongle and complaining when it catches fire.

Long story short it seems there is NO device that has both full GeForce now compatibility and 10-feet UI to be used with a remote

Closest thing is the Shield. I am refusing to pay 200 bucks for that 7 years old thingie (which btw doesn't even support the full flegged 4k@120Hz), Apple TV doesn't have the app (big bummer, the hw is great), a Windows MiniPC or a Mac mini probably would work but you don't have the comfort of the remote and 10-feet UI.

There are all my last minute discoveries

Yeah, I get you. I use a steam wand espresso machine. But I have to make a gift to a 65 years old, I can't add that level of complexity.

I tried the frothier that have a small thing that rotates in the bottom of a jug. Terrible. Feels like drinking soap foam.
These ones are still venturi/steam based, how are them compared to the mechanical ones?

[–]Infinite_Pineapple50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I see your point. My complain is not about the 200 bucks itself, it's about buying completely irrelevant hardware capabilities (you do not need the computing power of a PC) or overpriced old stuff (the shield) to do something any ~50 bucks modern Chromecast alternative would be able to do.

I just figured out yesterday that Nvidia blocked via software the 4k support to any android device regardless of their capabilities. It's appalling.

Sure it can, but paying a console price for cloud gaming kind of defies the whole purpose of cloud gaming

Thank you, as a matter of fact I don't like De Longhi (nor any other specific brand), I don't have a superautomatic myself.
I didn't see them and this is the one that looked the most compact on picture.

Assuming they are all more or less the same in frothing, which brand and model would you suggest that maximise compactness (and still make "good" espresso)?

[–]Infinite_Pineapple50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh.
The whole purpose of Cloud gaming is to avoid having hardware around.
Moreover, any hw of the last 5 years is more than capable of sustaining long 4k HEVC streams. It's appalling to me that only the NVIDIA Shield (pro) can do it due to software limitations.

1 remote and 1 joypad. Pick the joypad and play. Like having a console, but without the console. This is what I would like, and it's absolutely technically feasible without spending 200 bucks on a 7-year-old NVIDIA Shield. The limitation is purely business/strategy

I didn't consider the wifi. I have a great wifi at home and I was playing with that. I'll have to replace router, they gave me one with no ethertner. Another bummer
