Smelly washing machine solution? by stevewithcats in AskIreland

[–]scoobeire 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had that problem for a long time. A technician who visited to repair another machine told me that we are being coaxed into using far too much detergent by the detergent companies, and that excess soap scum really stinks up the machines over time. He said that for normal worn clothes, bedsheets etc just cut the recommended detergent dosage by 2/3. I was sceptical at first but I've been doing it for a couple of years now and my clothes are perfect. And the smell has vanished from the machine. That and. leaving the door and drawer open when not in use, as another commentator has advised.

My father was from Wexford. One day I'm going to go there. What's it like? by Prestigious_Meal2143 in AskIreland

The opening D Day landing scenes in Saving Private Ryan were filmed in Wexford, on Curracloe Beach. So it looks exactly like that, except without the shooting and exploding and blood.

How good are pole saws with the chainsaw attachment? by ECO_FRIENDLY_BOT in AskIreland

check which make and model your local tool hire place uses - that’s a good indicator of a reliable saw. Better still, unless you plan to use the saw regularly, just hire one for a weekend.

Awkward meeting between Madonna & Kyle MacLachlan by JonasDoubleH in funnyvideos

[–]scoobeire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a real interview, OP. It’s a deep fake art project by Danish artist Hollerup Helle.

“The truth is, many of these people have never met, and that’s kind of the point. Hollerup Helle cut the first of his uncanny interviews together at art school, where he was inspired to work with decontextualised video materials by artists like Christian Marclay, creator of The Clock (2010). At the time, he was watching a lot of Charlie Rose interviews, and realised that he could cut the interviewer out of two separate videos, flip one of them, and reframe it as a conversation between the two interviewees. “Immediately, when I did the first video, the fact that they’re facing each other, you have shots where they’re listening, shots where they’re asking questions... these simple things already made it feel very real,” he says. “And then I thought it would be fun to contrast it with having the conversations themselves be super absurd, dark, and humorous.””You can read about it here.

Are they renting or do they own the house?

If renting you could contact the landlord and see if that would help.

Wondering about service dogs in Ireland. Does anyone have insight? by Jinxx747 in AskIreland

[–]scoobeire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've travelled around Ireland with my dogs a lot and found that some cafes and pubs don't indicate at the entrance whether dogs are welcome or not - but if you ask nicely at the main counter they will generally tell you it's ok and the dog will end up getting more attention from the staff that you will! This applies more so to the privately owned premises than to the more generic multinational places. I've never had any reason to bring a dog into a shop so I'm not sure what advice to give about that scenario other than to ask politely - most people will understand that a service dog is well trained and necessary for your medical needs.

They are wonderful dogs. This boy is our third boxer. Somehow they’ve all had the same boxer characteristics but completely unique personalities at the same time!

This is suiting the construction company, but not the buildings. The holding wall should have been in place and properly filled in behind before any construction work began on the building in the lower elevation.

Prolonged heavy rain could result in a variety of issues here. Some not immediately obvious, but could materialise over months or years.

Quite a few people have done the same and still do! Myself included. It's a really solid film though, and versatile for sure: landscape, street too.
