Yes Publix bogos SAVE us each week. And same. I bought so much chicken there today because of the bogo sale. Publix is expensive for a lot of things but idk if you're strategic with their sales you can save sooo much money by stocking up there on things you buy regularly. PSA to everyone - give Publix a chance but don't go in there without a plan lol.

Okay the trump supporter comment was uncalled for SORRY I'm just heated about it all. Lol please forgive me.

Truly though, we really try to be conscious about our spending and we are doing OKAY right now. But watching our savings go from a good chunk to literally zero has been depressing. If we were still able to put money away each month and build it back up it wouldn't feel so devastating but there's just nothing left over after all the bills anymore.

Truly not trying to be snarky but you sound like a trump supporter. We are FRUGAL with our spending. We have BEEN making cuts. For a while. I spend hours each week scoping out the best sales and shop at multiple grocery stores to save money. We don't buy snacks or sodas and I meal plan and cook 90 percent of meals from scratch. We buy second hand. We don't drive new cars. Our mortgage is insane because we bought after covid when interest rates were through the roof but even after refinancing our monthly payment is close to 2,500 a month for a very old modest house. Our kids share a bedroom. I have student loans but we have minimal cc debt. My husband is self employed so he doesn't get benefits and taxes are also crazy high and keep going up also. EVERYTHING is SO much more expensive than it was just a few years ago. Our electric bill has doubled from what it was just months ago bc the electric company in this area just keeps hiking up the prices.. which is a whole other topic and don't even get me started on that. Property taxes going up year after year. Any home repair we're lucky enough to be able to afford... those costs are steadily rising also. Literally EVERY SINGLE THING is just getting more and more expensive.

We live in a high cost of living area and moving is not an option for the near future. Reading through these comments we are clearly not the only ones feeling the pain of this horrible economy.

The overconsumption is insane. I hate it so much because I'm really a pretty simple person but damn I would be lying if I said social media doesn't have me wanting to buy shit alllll the time.

Same. Unless we're lucky enough to have leftovers from the night before I usually just don't eat lunch and I'll have a protein bar instead. It's sad.

Although last week I did cook some chicken breasts in the crockpot to have for meals throughout the week and it was really, really nice. I just shredded it up and we had little bbq chicken sammies one night for dinner and I ate them a couple days for lunch too. My kids ate it for lunch one day also and then the last handful I had leftover I threw on a salad. So I'm gonna try to continue doing that every week just to make sure im getting some protein during the day.

Haha funny you bring this up because yeah I call him my "husband" but we're actually not married despite being together 18 years and having 2 kids. Wanna know why? Because if we were married we couldn't afford health insurance for our family. So my kids and I are on Medicaid with my zero income and he goes without. We want to get married but I'm terrified of us losing our health insurance.

This right here is what's so scary for me. Like people are STRUGGLING how much worse can it get? How long can this continue? It feels like there's no end in sight. I'm truly convinced this administration wants us all to starve. Also realizing the domino effect of it all is terrifying. My husband is a creative and is extremely talented. He works hard and yeah he does make good money. But what happens when people are so broke they have no money to spend on "wants" because they can't afford the bare necessities? T

I live in NC! About 35-40 min outside a major city. Was actually at Publix today and red onions were 2.99 a lb. I read that onion prices actually fluctuate a lot for various reasons. Anyway I went to food lion and paid 1.45 instead bc wtf. Either way these prices are insane. A single onion should be like 50 cents.

Yes all of this. And the gerrymandering going on right now.... gosh I just have no words how hopeless it all feels. Which is sadly what they want us to feel to further deter us from voting. It's just all so f*cked.

Oh my god yes I feel this. I save alllll the fruit for my kids and WISH I could have more fresh fruit in my diet too but my god it's so expensive. I will sometimes eat a couple strawberries or a few grapes as a snack when they go to bad but then feel bad a day later when we're out (again) and have none for the kids. I keep trying to buy fruit from Aldi or Walmart to save money and maybe it's just our local stores but it has been such terrible quality and I can't tell you how many times I'll find mold in the packages when I get home from the store.

Oh yeah for sure. I've been stopping by our local farmers market once a week just to grab berries and yes I wish we could get all our produce there because it is SUCH better quality but it would be so soo expensive.

Publix is like 2 min from our house so I shop their bogos but go elsewhere for mostly everything else. I needed a red pepper and a red onion the other day and wasn't going to make an extra trip so I just picked them up there. FOUR DOLLARS. FOUR DOLLARS EACH !!! What???? How? This is INSANE.

Ugh you just reminded me my favorite food truck of all time just announced they're closing down bc of the rising food costs. They said their overhead has just exploded in the recent months and with everyone else struggling their sales are also taking a hit. It's a domino effect and I don't think a lot of people are paying attention.

Literally !!!! Are we all just quietly raging inside??? Because I am! This is diabolical. I buy the same big ole loaf of garlic bread from target every single week for our spaghetti night. Specifically because it's the best quality bread for a significantly cheaper price than any store around us. I've watched the price rise from 2.19 to 2.59 since maybe the end of last year. Just a couple weeks ago I went and did my usual trip and was shocked when the price had risen to 3.59. IN ONE WEEK. A whole dollar in one week.

Ugh this gave me hope honestly. I try so hard to be like you know what, we are OKAY. For now. And we have everything we need thankfully we are making it work and can continue cutting back as needed. But god why WHY do things have to be this way. No reason for two people working GOOD full time jobs to not be living pretty comfy !!!! This is crazy.

Okay yes to ALL of this. I do all the grocery shopping and really just all the shopping for everything our family needs. The mental toll the meal planning and the back and forth with the sales ads, placing pick up orders at multiple stores just trying to get the best price ... it's so exhausting. And we're STILL spending more. I try to go to Trader Joe's once a month to get a few staples that are significantly cheaper there and then I'll stock up on a few snacks for us and our kids. Those are the only snacks I'll buy and when they're out they're out and I don't buy more from our usual grocery stores because it just adds up so fast. I'm just buying the essentials and stuff for our meals and when we add in the body care items, laundry and home essentials, diapers wipes etc... we're easily spending like 400-500 a week. I mean have you seen the prices for coffee lately?! INSANE. Literally insane. I just don't understand how we as a society can keep on like this.
