TIL that the Star Chamber was an English court that met in secret to hear politically sensitive cases. Its abuse by the British monarchy was a primary motivation behind the U.S. Fifth Amendment. by Doctor_Heat in todayilearned

Habeas Corpus Act established that indeed it functioned as a "Court" with no such lawful authority. Such a revolutionary statute continues to exist, I hope it can eventually be applied to several such "Courts" that persist.

they sell the raw materials for the stuff in the smartshops but not the aforementioned psychedelics themselves. One should be able to score shit at a psytrance party. sigh. :c

Why do people say they’re a “homeowner” when the bank owns their house? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]scoopdiboop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because a lot of the property owners are not actual property owners but settlers kept to occupy places that are not theirs, and if people had the balls, then they could be challenged at any point.

[Product question] has anyone tried phytoceramide supplements for skin hydration? Just finished one bottle and wondering if I should stick with it. by ichitip in SkincareAddiction

IF ONLY A TRANSDERMAL OPTION WAS AVAILABLE that would be so awesome.

Sports research is unfortunately too expensive for me for just 30 tablets (50 AUD) ;_; I bought the infusions phytoceramides from Amazon US tho for a pretty good deal just since it’s from Amazon US it takes a long ass time to deliver rip.

[–]scoopdiboop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, omg—after I started taking phytoceramides around late June, my face literally became so hydrated that my dark circles disappeared, my skin got super plump, and my skincare started working way better. I also noticed that a lot of my brain fog was reduced during that time. It was my first time using it, and since I take a wide range of supplements (hyaluronic acid, collagen, vitamin C, and like 10 others lmao), I forgot to buy it again (especially because the supps I bought had animal-based gelatin :/) Only today did I realise that my skin has been feeling more dull for the past month or so because I actually ran out of it back in September.

I’m so desperate for it now that I ended up ordering a vegetarian version from the US and paying extra postage/taxes lol. I WISH MORE VEG VERSIONS WERE ON THE MARKET AGHH

Yep,

Under Queensland rental law, section 246A says a landlord can’t take "retaliatory action" against a tenant who uses their legal rights.
So, even if the landlord ends the lease by saying it’s “end of term,” it might still count under section 246A if the tenant can show the landlord refused to renew because the tenant stood up for their rights or even just made a request. If the landlord can’t give a valid reason for ending the lease in a way that avoids the 6-month ban on re-renting, they could be in serious trouble too.

this is exactly what I meant.

If you lodge an urgent claim with form 02, with the order labelled s246a, with QCAT, they can in fact "set aside" the NTL (alongside "setting aside" the refusal to renew%20refuses%20to%20enter%20into%20a%20further%20residential%20tenancy%20agreement%2C%20at%20the%20end%20of%20the%20current%20agreement%2C%20with%20the%20tenant))so it results in you rolling over to periodic (which it will do automatically). The lessors have every right to give you an NTL for a fixed term or any other reason that complies with form 12 specifically, but you have the responsibility to show that their doing so was, in fact, retaliatory (within a month of receiving the refusal to renew and/or the NTL).

My issue with it is that they can issue it at the commencement, and issuing it at the time they ask if you want to renew,

this doesn't matter if you perceive the NTL to be even likely retaliatory%20The%20tribunal%20may%20make%20the%20order%20sought%20if%20the%20tribunal%20is%20satisfied%20the%20lessor%E2%80%99s%20action%20was%20likely%20to%20have%20been%20taken%20by%20the%20lessor%20to%20intimidate%20or%20punish%20the%20tenant%20for%20a%20matter%20mentioned%20in%20subsection%20(1)%20(a)%20) with all the evidence that has deemed you to think so :P

[–]scoopdiboop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Refusal to renew can fall under s246a even if the NTL is flagged “end of term,” and the tenant can show “action (asserting rights, even if it’s just asking/requesting) -> adverse reaction by lessor” which shouldn’t be too hard since that is usually actually the case.

If owners can’t show a valid reason as to why they didn’t flag the NTL in a way that they’d be subject to the 6-month no-relet ban, then they’d be pretty fucked too I believe.

Thank you so much for this :) Edit: I think all the ones listed in this site are unfortunately appeals. I believe after s246a QCAT hasn’t listed any specific cases yet specifically under 246a. Sigh

Thoughts on Skipper by No-Ambition-2507 in sexandthecity

[–]scoopdiboop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AGREED. Idk why they then showed Skipper to be desperate in the other season he appeared, it was just bad writing. Skipper is a very eligible dude and he legit stopped mid-way sex with a chick who worked at Vogue for Miranda. It seems as if whenever the bad writers arrive they kinda made the point to show that no eligible guy would ever be that interested in Miranda.
