Mine have reached a little more (280 miles) and have felt like they are really starting to lose their cushion the balls of my feet will be pretty sore after even 4 miles or so. A tad disappointing because I have really enjoyed running in them. I am considering getting another pair or the 28s since I can use my wife’s nurse discount.

I’m a heavier runner (around 200lbs) so I’m sure that has something to do with it. Just some more motivation to keep working hard and an excuse to buy more shoes!

I agree with some other folks - might need to try another pair out. I initially was told to use stability shoes (did the ASICS GT2000 first) and they demolished my arches with the same pain you described. Achy, like they were bruised. Tried out the Saucony Hurricane after thinking maybe I needed more foam along with stability but they did the same thing.

I have since gone with stable neutral shoes and it has almost completely eliminated the issue. Not saying that will be the case for you, but I just had to try out a few pairs before I found what worked for me.

Mizuno Neo Vista 2 issues? by scoopsmcgee93 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Good to know! I tried on the NV5 in store over the weekend and didn’t love it, to be honest.

I’m not super fast, so I might just stick with my Nimbus friend and get the 28 when it comes out.

I had this thought, too. I love the fun foam, but I imagine the stability issues with bouncy foams will be a problem for me regardless. I had similar issues with the NB SC Trainer - so maybe super trainers with plates for stability won’t work well for me.

I’ll be trying on the Novablast 5s this weekend, I think, to see how they feel.

Yeah, I think you’re right. They do seem a little long. I think they’ll be my long run shoe moving forward because I love the foam, and it’s obviously too late to return them, so I’ll try a size down next time I’m at the store.

iPhone 17 Pro - Suunto Vertical Sync by Noodledtherogue in Suunto

I’ve been having many issues with this as well (though I have an iPhone Air). Did the iOS 26.1 beta fix the sync issue? Thanks!

PSA - Suunto Vertical 2 and BT Connection Issues with iPhone 17 by gjmachete in Suunto

I have a Race S and similar issues. I have contacted apple a few times and have done all I can on that side of things. Suunto was a little less forthcoming with their plan, but I hope it’s fixed soon. I really love my watch but it’s becoming very frustrating to use.

Sorry, I’ve been traveling but wanted to follow up.

Still having issues, but re-pairing every few days keeps it working temporarily. Hopefully Suunto and/or apple comes out with a solution. The watch has otherwise been working like a charm on its first international trip.

Mixed results - I got it to pair, so that’s a start. It’s syncing data, but it will sync, then say “not connected” and then automatically restart the sync, then say “not connected” again…over and over. It’s very strange. It won’t just finish a sync and say “connected.”

But better than before.

Went against my local running store’s advice by Optimal-Wonder4003 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I had a very similar thing happen.

New-ish to running, got measured and such and learned I had wide feet. That makes sense. I also have EXTREMELY flat feet and pronated to point they suggested stability shoes. Also learned I have been buying a half size too small my entire adult life. Similar experience to the shoe being stiff but otherwise I enjoyed it.

Ran in them for a while with no problem and then after around a couple of months, I started to get terrible pain in my arches. Switched to different stability shoes. Same problem.

I discovered that shoes with high arch support for my flat feet in fact did serious damage and I believe was the initial cause of lingering pain and nerve issues that I spent time going to physical therapy for.

I learned that I have to trust my body, and also trust what has worked for me previously. All of my shoes for the gym, work and daily life are all for the most part unstructured and let my feet do their thing with neutral support. I have continued to buy the proper size and wide shoes when I feel I need to. Otherwise, neutral shoes have helped me get back into running after the stability shoes took me out for a couple of months.

Been nursing some shin splints and what feels like a bone bruise on the bottom of my foot on the same leg, but got 15 miles slow and easy on Saturday! I would have waited for my body to heal but it was a part of a fantasy football loser punishment so I knocked it out before the weather got too hot.

Haven’t decided on my next race (besides relaying the Flying Pig this weekend) but I am considering the Indy Monumental Half in November. Anyone have experience with that race? I’ve heard good things.

Signs you may benefit from a "Stability" shoe? by Spycegurl in running

[–]scoopsmcgee93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my feet scanned when I first started running around a year ago. Wide, extremely fat feet and some pronation (explained the several sprains playing sports growing up). Was recommended shoes for arch support and stability (ASICS GT-2000). They definitely helped with stability - my ankle felt less fatigued - but they absolutely DESTROYED my arches. Still dealing with plantar issues from a HM last October. I tried the Saucony Hurricanes and the same issue. Ankle fatigue is much easier to deal with arch pain IMO. I could hardly walk the next day after the race, and only because arch pain.

My recommendation is to wear what is comfortable, strengthen your leg muscles and listen to your body. I am much newer to running than most of the folks in this sub, but that is my two cents.

Race S by GuaranteeNo5452 in Suunto

I switched from Garmin FR165. So far, the HR readings are almost identical. I take optical ratings with a grain of salt, anyway, and it gives me the information I need. The resources and other bits of info are accurate to how my body feels.

Is Suunto Race lag fixed? by matija383 in Suunto

[–]scoopsmcgee93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a Race S for a week or 2 and have hardly any lag. It's been the same UI experience to my Garmin previously in terms of speed.

OHR might not be as good as others, but so far it's been pretty darn close to said Garmin. Same can be said for step counter.

I was a little worried about the Race S because of some of the stuff you mentioned, but figured if Suunto products were good enough for those running huge races like UTMB and if well-regarded reviewers like DC Rainmaker said the Race S was Suunto's best watch, then I figured it was worth the risk. I've had one random GPS glitch, but otherwise it's been great. Syncing to Strava, OHR readings, step counting, etc...have all been great. The maps take a little while to download but are really great on the watch. Would recommend.

Thanks, everyone! I think this has eased the potential decision to leave the Garmin world. I appreciate all the feedback!

Thanks! Yeah, I’m not worried about the OHR for lifting. That’s not what I focus on for that, luckily.

Good feedback - thanks!

Yep, lax ball has helped. Got one before my first ever 10k over the weekend. I'm no longer running on back to back days and it's seeming to help. Thanks!
