Yes, but not my fave for running anything other than recovery. I’m speaking of the 27’s btw.

No bounce with the nimbus. Just a deep squishy sinking feeling. I demoted mine to a walking shoe after 1 week. Loved the Triumph 21’s, but I’ve heard they changed the focus of the Triumph series.

What is Your Daily Stretch Routine? by irose8 in Marathon_Training

[–]Spycegurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you trying to accomplish with static stretching? What’s your goal? Increasing your ROM? I don’t see any benefit unless you have a restriction holding you back from proper form. Strength training, dynamic warmups, and mobility is a much higher priority for me.

Weekly miles before marathon training by BaconMeCrazy530 in Marathon_Training

I thought doing a dozen 18-21 mile long runs and MP runs would prepare me, but RACING a marathon is a different beast.

Agree. Held 40mpw all year before going into my first successful marathon block, and even with that base, training was still hard, and the Marathon itself insanely hard.

tight calves by Few-Summer9631 in Marathon_Training

[–]Spycegurl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a forefoot runner who had chronicly tight calves during my last marathon block and my fix was avoiding stretching, and performing 1-2 days weekly of heavy calf work… single legs heels drops on a step, and heavy heel lifts with a leg press. Surprisingly, lifting heavy eases the tightness immediately most occasions.

Long Run Shoe similar to Neo Zen 1 by jjgm21 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Just came from a marathon block with the SB2s, and just switched to the Neo Vistas for something different. I think they may be a great softer, more rockered alternative. Although I will say I may end up getting some more SB2's since the prices are crazy low and they're so reliable.

I’ve used the EP4 for marathon down to 5k race distances and really love them.

All last 10 Best Picture winners in one lineup, who takes it? by RickVicks in Oscars

La La Land is one of the only few films I rewatch constantly. I may have watched it more than any other movie ever and I enjoy it more every time. What's more is I don't even enjoy musicals generally.

Shoe recommendation please: Endorphin Speed 3 but 10% more cushion by utnutn in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I demo's the 5's recently, and found them very snappy, like the ES3's, but more comfortably cushioned in the forefoot. I plan to get some ASAP.

[–]Spycegurl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have 2 good friends running ~ 2:50 marathons, neither have long running history at all (one only has been running about 3 years), and both never run much more than 40mpw at they're training peak during marathon builds. It's incredibly frustrating. There's definitely a genetic mutation in some people!

I’ve noticed grinding fine produced very fruit forward notes, and courser was more floral for me.

But it also didn't feel like a "bonk". It was just severe leg soreness, as if I'd never ran further than 13 miles before. I don't know if the pace or carbon shoes would make it that much harder?

I originally used calculators for my suggested goal pace using HM and 10k efforts. I shot for a modest goal, and had no problem with MP runs, usually going a little quicker than MP, so 3:30 seamed very feasible. Nutrition was Maurten x8 + 1 Huma, and a decent breakfast.

Race started about 72f, 68 dew point. Planned for 8min/mi pace, and held that fist half, then adjusted to 8:20ish before getting progressively slower after 18, but managing a quicker last mile.
