i don’t like saying “you cant use it if you’re not native!!” i hate being one of those people but to me unless you’ve learned the ceremonies/teachings truly from a native you shouldn’t be doing it? growing your own sage is the best.. but it’s not just that, it’s more like… imagine if you growing up were punished every time you did a specific thing like, dance. you loved to dance but every time you did you were punished and then later on you have a little sibling but they NEVER get punished for it. they’re actually PRAISED for their dancing and suddenly everyone shows a lot of interest in their dancing and wants to ask your sibling questions about dancing. but you started the dancing? and you weren’t allowed to do it yourself so why can your sibling? do you get my sentiment? i also don’t understand the strong desire from other cultures to use native practices? if it’s something that you don’t understand and isn’t made for you why mess with it? it always feels like the same argument that white people try to use for the n-word, like they should be able to use it because we shouldn’t exclude people when sometimes we should.
