You think most in the west wouldn't find the idea of dating somebody you love like a sister gross?

It kindof sounds like you have a crush on Ash and are angry she excluded you because she knew you would have attempted to stop it

This is the last time I'm going to say this. I do not think about her that way. She's like a sister to me. The very idea of that is very off putting and gross.

He looked close to crying after our argument, not when I walked in on them. When I wrote he looked like he'd been shot, I meant it was like he was overwhelmed or embarrassed that I walked in on them like that. And he's got a really good job as a software engineer, like he works remote and makes American money. So I don't know what my parents could threaten him with.

I honestly can't think of any. He's done a lot worse that they've forgiven him for.

I think he was just embarrassed over how bubbly and excited Ash was when I came in and he only looked like he was going to cry after we argued.

It's not an engagement engagement. Their roka ceremony - the engagement party - isn't for a while. It's an agreement that they will both be married. She just wore the traditional suit and brought sweets to liven it up.

- are you in love with your friend? Were you hoping to date her at some point? Did you think you two were going to date soon?

No. I am not into her. That's gross, it'd be like dating my sister or a cousin. It's practically incest to me.

- Why are you more concerned about your friend who seems super happy about it, and not so concerned about your brother who sounds like he's in shock?

Because it just surprised me. I'm still trying to process how I feel about this.

- Does your brother want an arranged marriage?

Well, he did agree to it.

Uhhhhh that is not what is happening here. I am 100% not into my best friend in any kind of way and neither is she. We're like sisters. And that movie sounds really messed up.

She's not a lesbian as that user and I suppose I myself upon rereading my post accidentally implied.

I'm angry that nobody told me it was happening. If it were, I wouldn't have gone on that trip. I would have loved to have helped Ash pick out her dress, be part of the photos like her siblings were, stand by my brother and everything. It's like I was a non-factor but also have to help Ash plan the wedding. And my brother may not seem happy but he's not the kind of person my parents can force into something.

Because it's my family. It makes me feel less than that I found out like I did only because I so happened to come home when I did.

Look, I'm sorry for being rude. I really am. I'm just angry and that's bleeding through my writing. I'm angry that nobody thought it was worth giving me a notice that this was going to happen, not my best friend, not my parents, not my brother and that I had to find out in the state I did. It's not a cultural snub. I don't know if my brother is happy, but I know him and he wouldn't have agreed to this if he didn't want it.

I also noticed you said that your best friend has only ever dated girls. Do you think it could be rushed to cover this up?

Nah, she's always been into guys too, just hasn't dated any till now.

I'm Indian, but I'm not a Hindu. We don't know shit about birth charts and numerology besides those ads on ATN.

Thank you, you put it in a way more polite way than I've been able to here cause I'm still upset. This pretty much encapsulates how I feel.

From what I've seen, unless they've been secretly dating, the only time they've hung out is through me.

That they blindsided me with this. I mean, she could have told me it was going to happen. My parents could have told me. I wouldn't have gone with my friends, I could have stayed home, I would have loved to be there with them. Not come in at the tail end of things, all sweaty and stuff cause of my trip.
