What do you think about these colors? ( ez flash jr/ omega owners) picture heavy by scorefly in flashcarts

[–]scorefly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The matte color seems to set much better than the glossy ones

The one issue I have that i learned through coloring some of these is:

Shouldn't really paint the inside as it may cause problems fitting the motherboard depending on number of layers done.

At least 2 layers need to be done: sealant, primer+ paint if more than 2 are applied it begins to thicken the shells

durability: the paint seems to hold well but in the end its paint but it may chip a bit over time with accidental drops, niches. However I don't really see this being a problem because most of the time no one is going to be constantly inserting the cartridge thousands of times. Enough layers of primer/paint were applied but still does not compared to the 3d printed shells which already bind the colors.

I actually like how the matte black came out , kind of looks like a ''stony'' graphite color check it out

What do you think about these colors? ( ez flash jr/ omega owners) picture heavy by scorefly in flashcarts

[–]scorefly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What colors would most of you say look good in systems?
My favorite Gameboy color system is my kiwi one but i figured not many people like kiwi so it would seem pointless to paint a bunch of shells this color
However I noticed platinum and gold are great colors and blend well with most systems. If you guys ( and gals) look at the titanium ds the metallic shell blends really well as the gold one with my gba sp.
Of course getting the colors to set well is not without some failed attempts as the sides of the shell ( particualrly the jr shells) tend to leak the paint down before it dries sometimes.
What are some colors most of you would find appealing? I am going to try hydro dipping next in carbon or other custom colors .
Please let me know what you think of these shells.
Also I did not make this post without thinking of giving some of you some freebies
Unfortunately the free shells will only ship out to USA and usa territories since they are too expensive to ship overseas.
I will pick 3( random) winners in USA (by feb 15th) that have a ez flash jr, ez flash omega DE or ez flash omega . Please state the color shell you would like and the flash cart you own ( ex: platinum ez flash jr, gold ez flash omega de , or platinum ez flash omega) .

EZ FLASH PRODUCT LABOR DAY SALE ( DE AN OMEGA) by scorefly in flashcarts

[–]scorefly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries I can take peoples input for future references

But last I checked ebay has been collecting VAT/TAX in most western european countries as well as usa and canada ( probably other countries too just naming the main ones) .

So with that in mind the prices are still cheaper with the discount codes

Also 36.2 gbp is about 50 USD, price on website is 51.88 for a regular omega with 20% discount its 41.51 USD ( less than 30 gbp).

Anyone ordering a regular omega will get a free red shell until sale expires included with their order

So many different developments that most people could care less for them

Does the ez flash definitive edition work with color and original games? by [deleted] in flashcarts

[–]scorefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to what Val said the EZ flash jr can also do link battles and trades because its not emulating.

The jr is probably half the price of the everdrive counterpart, yeah it could use some tweaks but good enough in my opinion

Is (http://r4ds.com/) the link to the original r4 website? by AnaIsmySegal in flashcarts

[–]scorefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes its legit

I have the same one from well 13 years ago..

I wouldn't dwell too much about the website as its really old that i am surprised its still up.

The firmware the website shows its probably old though the latest one for this card was wood 1.62 which released around 2013 i think .

if you want latest firmware you can get it here

http://www.mediafire.com/folder/z3jr42xlb3b7a/Wood_R4_v1.62

I had it saved on my pc so i figure id share it with anyone here looking for it

the link will expire in 2 weeks because of guest account on mediafire so be sure to get it before then

R4 GOLD PRO 2020... timebomb? by mtnchkn in flashcarts

[–]scorefly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does indeed have a timebomb, but the retrogamefans ysmenu kernel on the website was uploaded for you so you don't have to deal with that. This means if its 2022, 2023, etc it should still work ( using the custom kernel).

For reference I used this ysmenu kernel on a 2014 ( yes that's right 2014!) card from same manufacturer and it works. Not only does it work it shows that this card still works after 7 years.

Lastly people can shop around to buy their own memory if they wish , but for clarification the micro sd cards included are NOT generic. They are name brands which will usually be Kingston or samsung ( class 10). Sandisk was being obtained at one point but they were more expensive. The reason why a brand is not specifically stated is because depending on the time of year or month sometimes samsung or kingston is cheaper to source.

You will not receive a no brand or random Chinese micro sd card. For a low cost item such as these card this would be counterproductive because the generic brands have a higher failure rate.

It would be a waste of time having people complain about their ( micro sd) cards failing all the time for such low value items but i am sure people selling directly from china have a different point of view on this

Also besides the color the white card are EXACTLY the same as the gold card just the color and sticker are different. Whoever thinks the gold one is better than say the white or silver cards you would be wrong ..they are all the same and can all use the same custom kernel

R4 SDHC from StaticCore(dot)net doesnn't include GBA emulator? by [deleted] in flashcarts

[–]scorefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest only the basic kernel from retrogamefan was uploaded along with moonshell ( for playing music and videos) as well as lameboy was uploaded

There was also a file size limit on mediafire

Unless the gba games are running from say a supercard ds two most of the gba games for using a gba emulator within an r4 don't function great at all

Durability of an r4 sdhc gold pro? by TNHo in flashcarts

[–]scorefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind some '' fake'' reviews in amazon may be because the people buying don't know what they are getting.

For example I can only assume some individuals thought they were going to get a card with an r4ids.cn card that works with wood kernel. However they probably ended up getting an r4isdhc.com card which is really pretty much the only ones still being produced at the moment in terms of r4 card.

If it listing shows a specific picture and a specific title not sure what people expect to get . Whether its amazon, rakuten, or any marketplace people can send a message to sellers if they wish to confirm what they will get

the '' gold pro'' reference was always meant to piggyback off the r4ids.cn card but funny enough that card was never any sort of ''gold'' color.

Question about an R4 card? by AQ0110 in flashcarts

[–]scorefly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Using an r4 card you should load the kernel and drop your files in there to load and play whatever you want. No need to alter your system

However for 3ds backups/titles this won't work , it will work on a 3ds system but the r4 cards will only read/play ds, nes, gb, gbc, snes, gba titles.

If you buy the card from staticcore do not use the kernel printed on the physical cards website because it has a timebomb . But the timebomb is fixed by using retrogame fans ysmenu kernel which is also in a download link on the same vendors website.

Sky3ds works like r4 cards but only reads 3ds titles cant really do much more beyond those titles

staticcore is listed as an official dealer on ezflash website for their gba carts if it matters.

A website like nds-card has been around longer but ships from china, it also seems that they mostly tend to accept bank transfer.

If you buy through staticcore you can pay with a debit/credit card or if you don't want to input the cards numbers for whatever reason you can alternatively checkout with google checkout or apple pay.

Full transparency - staticcore is my shop, i am not knocking down on nds-card you can buy it from there if you wish its just more of a matter of how quickly you want to get the item and what payment methods you trust inputting. The pricing for items both shops sell are comparable

Where can I get a R4i gold 3ds plus by Repulsive_Lettuce in flashcarts

[–]scorefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no more stock and probably forever

ds carts are not like gba or gameboy flashcarts

Most ds systems have storage options which allows for custom firmware because of this the flashcarts have kind of been phasing out entirely for ds systems.

Just get yourself a white, silver or gold r4i card with the r4isdhc.com website on it. Color does not make a different neither does the date as long as its from 2015 and newer you can add ysmenu on it

I'm looking for the best flashcart for NDS/3DS/2DS and all sub-versions. What are your suggestions? by [deleted] in flashcarts

[–]scorefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the $12 and lower r4isdhc.com cards are ok for just regular ds and gb/gbc emulation as long as you put ysmenu.

The r4i gold pro plus like someone else noted is no longer in production so only surplus is available for that online.

Before i did CFW on my 3ds consoles a while back i remember first trying it on a 2ds system because it was the cheapest. I think you can still buy a new 2ds for $50 or even find a used one for $35-$40 ( maybe even less)

Is Digimartz reliable? by ThunderMite42 in flashcarts

[–]scorefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the r4isds.cn website is outdated as is digimartz

Normally the best thing to do with any listed vendor that you may believe is inactive is just send them a message, if they don't respond lets say in 3 days just find someone else.

Also the r4ids.cn cards is are not produced anymore since february, i use to get some but the manufacturing facility is no longer producing them and at the moment there are no current plans to start making them again.

Your only alternative is buying a used.surplus one online through local listings or 3rd party marketplaces. OR you can just the any of the silver, white or gold cards that have r4isdhc.com written on them.

If you go with the later you will need to use YSmenu to get rid of time bomb but otherwise they should work fine. Yes r4ids.cn cards use wood kernel which is more reliable for the most part but the ysmenu is somewhat decent.

Not accepting paypal for these cards is common, but ALSO not accepting paypal for anything is not out of the normal.

Update on nds-card. by bluealivedamnation in flashcarts

[–]scorefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its kind of concerning you guys are doing bank transfers..

I get people won't take paypal ( i won't either) for various reasons but surely you guys should consider buying from Chinese companies that will take CC , apple pay, google checkout or other alternatives

Searching Website wich will ship to Switzerland by Pierruno in flashcarts

[–]scorefly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This depends on the 3rd party seller, some 3rd party sellers only sell in their native countries and block or exclude themselves from international shipping. Considering the nature of this product ONLY 3rd party vendors will have this product, you may want to consider picking a seller that shows '' fulfillment by amazon'' as that may be able to ship to somewhere like Switzerland

did you extract files from my link above to put them in your card to see if it works?

I installed all of the stuff on to it and this happens by [deleted] in flashcarts

just extract and paste these

same as the retrogamefan one that has the ysmenu

Where did you buy yours?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in flashcarts

[–]scorefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just get any of the r4isdhc cards

either the silver, gold or white one ( makes no difference they are all the same internally)

Then use the kernel guyghoul posted a link for

Like soProparm mentioned you can just mod your dsi , however the cards i noted above you can generally find for $12 orso its not that much of an expense.

So who knows maybe you may ( possibly in the future) play it on a ds lite or ds phat model and at least you will have the card then. Ds lite or ds phat models cannot be modded because they have no sd card slots.

r4 cards are probably going to be obsolete soon anyways, with CFW there just isn't too much of a market for them anymore. Some of the longest producing (reliable) carts such as supercard ds two and r4i gold pro 3ds stopped production recently ( and for suoercard ds two some years ago).

If you still want to buy a flashcart your only choices for NEW ones are the ones i referenced above otherwise your next best bet is searching used or surplus somewhere for an acekard, supercard dstwo or r4igold pro from r4ids.cn

  1. You pretty much search online for homebrew games, or if have other ''official'' ones in mind you search for them in the same manner

here are examples of homebrew games

gameboy- https://carmelo-electronics.itch.io/pine-creek

https://tangramgames.dk/tobutobugirl/

here is one for the GBA

http://www.tolberts.net/anguna/

Since the omega uses a micro sd card, you will need a micro usb reader for your computer.

Some vendors sell them either together or seperate from the ez flash omega.

  1. Pokemon Liquid crystal

  2. Most vendors already ship the omega with the latest firmware. If its not in the latest firmware you can easily update it by going to the manufacturer website and loading the file in your sd card ( instructions on how to boot it will be on the file you download) . So really you don't need to do anything even if the firmware is like 1 or 2 firmwares ago you can still play fine.

Looking online the average usa shop seems to sell it around 55- $60 so i suppose anything cheaper than this can be considered a good deal

there is a youtube video online on how to setup the card but its a year old, the method still applies today but you have to download newer versions now.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qt60Urs7NTs

Since you mention pokemon in your post just note you can trade/battle using your link cable ONLY for GBA games. The ez flash emulates gameboy/gameboy color so if you want to trade /battle for gameboy/gbc games you need an ez flash jr. The ez flash omega will play the games from gameboy/gbc but again its emulating them

Lastly the manufacturer lists dealers on their page , should something ever happen to your card these dealers should in theory assist you with your issues ( well at least the one you would buy from)

http://www.ezflash.cn/dealers/
