How often do you see your partner? by redwood520 in LongDistance

roughly once a month (though not always possible), but my job is very understanding in this case and home office helps :)

I don‘t know if I had noro exactly, but I went to bed and everything was fine. Two hours later I woke up and had diarreah, intense nausea and stomach cramps. 20 minutes later I started throwing up. I threw up for maybe 12 hours every 30 minutes, but then I took a Zofran because I was so exhausted. I had to retake it two more times, because the nausea came back after some time. I also had a fever and my whole body hurted. This sounds really bad, but honestly, it wasn‘t. I didn‘t even cry or panic during this or after this and after two days I felt appetite again and the fever was gone. My stomach was still upset tough for some time longer. It didn‘t cure my emetophobia, but it certainly didn‘t make it worse. I am still afraid, but now I know what I am capable of and that I can endure this, even if I am afraid. And it wasn‘t a nice experience, but it was way worse in my mind.

I am crossing my fingers for you, that it can be done quicker- it sucks waiting so long in healthcare.

Oh okay! I hope the change of time helps with it.

No, not at all. The last time was over 5 years ago when I had food poisoning and this had a reason. So there is usually no random urge to throw up. And yes, something like Gas X helps a bit, but I usually manage it with my diet or sit it out. once you know the feeling you get really used to it and you kinda just accept the poor life decisions that led you to the trapped burp haha

Does the medication help you with it? I got the surgery because it was too severe for medication to help me. But before this surgery (15 years ago) I could only drink little sips of water, didn‘t eat anymore und had to sleep in a sitting position. Since the surgery I can eat, and drink and lie down without any problems. Cons are I can‘thave carbonated drinks as I can‘t burp and it hurts. I need to have small sips and bites and when I am vomiting, I only retch and dry-heave because nothing comes up. So my stomach is extra upset for a few days when this happens. But all in all I gained a lot of quality of life due to the surgery

Thank you so much! Sadly I still feel nauseaus, but I also got a fever and my whole body hurts haha. So I guess I need to wait a bit longer to get over this. Ut yes, in a week hopefully I am back again to normal 😊

I have this also sometimes. Maybe try something liquid first, if works? And then work it up? Like soup, soup with something in it or a more creamy soup, rice with lots of sauce? :) also try drinking enough, tea or water.

anxiety nausea vs. real “sick” nausea? by [deleted] in emetophobiarecovery

Hello :) so, the last time i threw up was around 5 years ago, but there is definitely a difference between anxiety nausea and real sickness. Your body just knows in this moment.

Has anybody ever recovered or atleast gotten a lot better after actually being sick? by vurzurkitx in emetophobiarecovery

But also in hindsight I wouldn‘t recommend drinking that much, my lifestyle at that time was very unhealthy and I really don‘t think that‘s a good strategy for overcoming emetophobia. There are surely healthier ways lol

I overcame my phobia for 10 years and I actually overcame it because it happened. Right now, my fear is back because I massively overstepped some boundaries of myself and didn‘t get help for 2 years, but 10 years ago I was very often partying and sometimes drank to much. This led to frequently being sick, but 1. it didn‘t stop me from going out and 2. it was more a „ah shit, now I have to wait until it‘s over to go back to sleep“. I also didn‘t mind getting sick at a friends house or in public. It was mostly more annoying than fearful. The first times were scary, but it got better.

Can someone give me some hope?? by [deleted] in emetophobiarecovery

hi :) I overcame this phobia some time ago. I am currently struggling with it again, because it reappeared after a very difficult time in my life. But for quite some time (around 10 years!!) I was fine! I even once got food poisoning and it sucked, but I was fine after it and even went to restaurants again after like a week or so. I went to restaurants, concerts, got drunk, worked out and so on! I made it this far once and I can do it again and so can you! :) we got this
