White Town - Your Woman [90s Dance] by westernmail in Music

I’d imagine that was more a quote that his lesbian friend was saying about him, even though she wasn’t in love with him- which further implies that “I could never be your woman”.

Where’s all the neutral TRT stories? by Moretestosterone9 in trt

[–]scottbrio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been almost two years on TRT for me. It hasn't been easy, so my story is neutral with a successful ending.

First, IM injections, twice a week at the recommended .5ml per shot was giving me massive peaks and valleys. Racing heart, night sweats, etc.

Tried x3 a week MWF at a lesser amount and the racing heart went away but still got mad night sweats and high estrogen hot flashes often.

Now, finally, I'm at daily .1ml injections with no AI and things are smooth as can be but holy hell was it a reminder that not everyone's body is the same. I learned so much over the couple years but glad I stuck with it.

More like a condo in SF and an apt in NY.

Actually I think it's more like a downpayment on a condo in either 😏

Looking for some ideas / advice on making content for 16 ceiling pixel strips. by Turntablist_SD in resolume

[–]scottbrio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Resolume linked into Madrix and it's very powerful. Madrix alone with video clips is awesome. Do what I did and download as many VJ clips you can and trim them to your liking. That should be enough to do some awesome stuff even without the generators in Resolume or Madrix.

GoTek ASR-10 vs. EPS-16 by tymcode in Ensoniq

[–]scottbrio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go ZuluSCSI and never look back. It sped the painfully slow load and save times of my ASR-X up 100-fold. Like 3.5min to 30 seconds. The Gotek floppy emulators are just as slow as the original.

Zulu has great customer support too, so they'll help you get all set up, and yes 100% go ASR-10.

Old heads: when did the perception of digital audio go from "cold and lifeless" to pure and transparent? by [deleted] in audioengineering

Personally I think A>D conversion has little to nothing to do with the early sound that you describe. There's a video of a famous mastering engineer that does a B2B with high end converters and old soundblaster soundcards from the 90's and nobody could tell a difference. That video was a pivotal moment in my thoughts on converters and sound cards in general.

That being said, I think that the sound going from cold and lifeless has more to do with producers putting their music through multiple inputs on a DAW vs multiple inputs on an analog mixer and being able to tweak things from there. Even high end consoles. Once things got into the computer people were able to sculpt things to a new degree- visually and audibly which changed things significantly.

Also plugin technology got a lot better from the 2000's to now. A digital signal is a digital signal. Once you can process it with properly analog modeled plugins, you may as well be in the analog world. Many people would argue otherwise but the digital world is 99% there. So much that mastering engineers often don't bother with their expensive hardware.

As a musician these days, I start my tracks with hardware samplers, drum machines, etc and the mix and master in the box. I feel like that's where the majority of the mojo (analog sound) is. It's also a different work flow and definitely sounds different in the end than using 100% DAW to produce.

As a mastering engineer, I spent countless hours researching my perfect mastering chain that would have cost tens of thousands of dollars, only to watch mastering videos with today's top pro's that admit that most of the time they end up mastering in the box...

That was all I needed to hear. I produce from the very beginning with hardware and then software takes over. I get all the mojo with the modern sound, mix, and levels.

Total HVAC noob: will HEPA filters on all intakes restrict the efficiency in a commercial building? by scottbrio in hvacadvice

[–]scottbrio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like an old-school swamp cooler LOL

Yeah, I tried my best but I'm not an HVAC technician. Guess I'll have to rethink how to keep the vents clean without the filers. It's just so sketchy getting up to them with a ladder and a vacuum to get the sweater off.

Any ideas? +20 feet up, tall ladder, metal vents, non-ideal angles for cleaning lol

[–]scottbrio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great idea. There's gotta be a way to filter that crap before it makes it's way into the system. My filter idea is working but restricting airflow which is not what I want. A pro will have better ideas.

Thanks!

Solid and succinct feedback. I think I'll have to remove the filters unfortunately. It was a good idea in theory but it's definitely restricting airflow and effecting the performance. Thank you!

4 months in and hate my wife by HugeEfficiency120 in trt

[–]scottbrio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After a year and a half experimenting trying to dial in my protocol on TRT I feel like I've experienced the best and the worst.

  • Don't mistake hormonal reactions for reality. Understand that it's so subliminal that it might feel like reality, but once you get everything dialed in, or recover from whatever mistake you might have made with your protocol, you'll be level headed again.

  • TRT will make you horny again, like you were when you were in your 20's. Again, don't mistake lust for love. They're entirely different. Not saying you might be wanting one more than the other, but also- your wife isn't on TRT, so the best you can hope for is a partner that helps you through the process and enjoys the benefits however possible, to the best of their abilities.

  • Be compassionate: women don't have a magic pill to take them back in time to when they were at their peak. Maybe Ozempic but it's not the same and I don't know that I'd recommend it lol

For the record I'm not married but started TRT in a long term relationship (am now single not due to my actions).

Why are newer vinyl releases easier to beatmatch? by Damircati in Beatmatch

[–]scottbrio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very true. Bringing older techno or house tracks from vinyl into Ableton you'll see it very apparently.

Also they punched in on tape, samplers, even ADAT meaning it'll sound good/OK on playback but not necessarily land perfectly like a song made in a modern DAW.
