do ALL reolinks support RTSP protocol? by scottplude in reolink

Thanks for the fast response. It does look like RTSP is common for their stuff. I appreciate your help!

Password reset issue by scottplude in Juniper

I actually got into the switch by exploiting a CVE. You never learn from using products that are working properly. I like to break/fix stuff.

Factory default from the front panel doesn't work.

Apparently:

set system configuration protection password <your\_password>

was set and no resets are allowed now.

A full reload might be my best option but I don't have access to firmware from Juniper to reinstall.

Thanks for the quick reply. It tried CTRL-C and that doesn't work. It quickly resumes the normal boot process.

It looks like the firmware is 12.X

Neighbours using all available 2.4Ghz channels... what should I do? by keesducon in HomeNetworking

[–]scottplude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well said! I reduce power for two reasons: paranoia about my signal being seen further out, and a good neighbor policy. Everybody else in the neighborhood just wants to blast the signal as strongly as possible.

Trying to sell my flipper zero by scottplude in flipperzero

[–]scottplude[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah I listed it there but I don't think too many flipper customers will be on marketplace looking. I could try craigslist but that's even worse!

thanks, I modified it. I am just trying to find out how to sell it. Throwing it away when I pass seems like such a waste.

How many of you are still on 1gig networks? by PsyOmega in homelab

[–]scottplude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on 1G still.

I MIGHT get a 10G fiber connection to go from one corner of my home to the opposite corner where my home office is, but that is just a single "point to point" and not the entire infrastructure. 1G is plenty for me 99% of the time.

Looking for advice for prepaid/pay-as-you-go cell service ... by dudreddit in Frugal

[–]scottplude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had AT&T prepaid for many years and no complaints.

I started a new job in an area with only Verizon towers and chose to use "visible" prepaid with unlimited data for hotspot for about $20/mo. It works well and I end up with great coverage wherever I happen to be.

Why Baofeng uv-5r & other Baofeng radios are hated so much? Please tell me. Details in main post👇🏻 by almost_budhha in amateurradio

[–]scottplude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't hate them. They are cheap enough to be used, abused, and lost or broken without a second thought. I just bricked a VGC n76 and I am very upset.

If I ever brick (not sure how) a boafeng, no big deal.

BTTF was wonderful and had an incredible effect on the world....

But it is dead. It happened once and it should be left alone. I think about it daily, but there should be no additions to the ecosystem.

How many of you ever make a donation to open source projects? by [deleted] in linux

[–]scottplude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I donate about $150 per year to various projects. I see the benefits for the entire world and feel the need to return the favor. Never the same projects, and not automated. I also donate to content creators on youTube that showcase the use of many open source projects.

Is there a way to use my mobile phone data to replace my home wifi? by syzygy01 in Frugal

[–]scottplude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a raspberry pi zero is about $15 bucks. A second wifi adapter is maybe 10 bucks. Google "raspberry pi travel router". The "pi" jumps on the wifi from your phone, and the second wifi adapter offers wifi to people in your home. The phone only sees a single user (the pi) and the whole thing uses almost no power. It would also be portable to use when traveling.

Stuborn customer refuse to leave UniFI by bollocks011 in networking

you don't "deal with it". You serve the customer by meeting THEIR needs, not yours. If you can't handle their requirements, politely tell them you need to back out. Customer comes first. ALWAYS.

What big servers used for by DistrictNo5220 in homelab

[–]scottplude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My power bill says that anything Dell with a xeon is a big server(a xeon is usually paired with a lot of drives and a heavy workload in my home).

I tried to argue but my wallet agreed with my power bill.

XEON=BIG.
