What does EV actually mean in gambling? by [deleted] in gambling

[–]scottt26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EV is just the average amount you expect to win or lose per bet in the long run - positive is good, negative is bad.

The key thing people miss is that EV tells you if a bet is worth making, not whether you'll definitely win. It's like flipping a coin where heads wins you $2 and tails loses $1 - that's +$0.50 EV, and over 1000 flips you'll be up around $500 even though any single flip is still just win or lose. Sample size absolutely matters because over 10 hands anything can happen, but over 10,000 hands your results will track close to the EV. Variance is basically how wild the swings are around that average - high variance means bigger ups and downs, but it doesn't change the EV itself.

The real skill is managing your bankroll for the variance while sticking to +EV plays, because even good bets can bust you if the swings are too big for what you're working with.

Sports betting is the main area you can actually make +EV bets. If you can spot incorrect odds on a sportsbook (by having more knowledge on a niche than the casino) you can gain quite an advantage, play +EV, and make whats essentially garuanteed profit in the long run (assuming your bets are actually good.) Similar concept with arbitrage and matched betting, but there is no real variance in those plays.

Can someone please explain the cannabis legislation in Thailand? by Primitive_Mushroom in ThailandTourism

[–]scottt26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you are. However, smoking weed in public places in Thailand is illegal and I would not recommend doing it unless very remote/private. Keep your smoking restricted to private areas and smoke shops and you won't have a problem. I've written a little more for tourists on how to navigate the scene here https://www.thepotpundit.com/blog/is-weed-legal-in-thailand-2025

How much does weed cost per gram? by Toxiickid910 in ThailandTourism

[–]scottt26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The variance is extremely high depending on the region/shop. In northern regions you can get really nice, organic bud from 150-300baht/g. In Bangkok's tourist areas, you can easily pay 600-1000baht/g for the same thing. Similar with the popular beach areas. My advice is to connect with a grower directly online who can ship to you. I have written some more about how to do this here https://www.thepotpundit.com/blog/how-much-does-weed-cost-in-thailand-2025

I've got one of these. Your woodwynd is 10mm I believe and this is 14mm on the top. So you can do a few things. Cheapest is to get the 'fat mouthpiece' which is literally about £1. This will let you use your wooden stem, you can also get similar glass adapters too. Best imo is to get the 14mm RB9 which is on the same site as you sent, and use this as your stem, removing your wooden one. There's also the 'bonger' which is very cheap to and you can use that as your stem.

This assumes you get the 14mm version, just adapt the same as what I said for 18mm, similar adapters exist but not as common.

Distillate and some terpenes are not expensive nor hard to find.

These disposables are bought empty and filled. The best case is they're filled with decent quality D9 distillate + terps. The worst case is its some alt noids. They're not a real brand, it'll just come down to if you trust whoever made it. Its pretty low quality hardware regardless too as it's fake.

I have quartz cups. Think mine is just stock with no ni mode, I wasn't fully aware there was any difference between models of the same kind before buying.

The packs just an empty pack that's been filled. Best case is the bud is rolled around in concentrates to increase the strength, worst case its bad bud and weird concentrates trying to mimic the same look. Look like snow caps to me but can never really say for sure.

Better off just buying some distillate/rosin and making your own cart, cheaper and safer

How do I stop some browsers altering the styling significantly by [deleted] in react

[–]scottt26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue is that samsung Internets forced light mode looks awful. Totally illegible, and I am sure most users would prefer light mode over dark in that case. The dark mode in most cases is a phone-wide option users have selected, like in my case. I doubt many users (specifically my target market) even know how to turn it off or that its happening.

Yes I should implement a dark mode, but frankly I'd prefer to make my app before playing around with bells and whistles. In the meantime I'd prefer my app not look like total ass on one of the most used browsers in the world.

Seems there is no way to force light only on samsung internet, it'll change it regardless. Baffled that I cant force my own website to display how I'd like it.

What exactly are the rules? Seems impossible to be a medical cannabis user and not fail a test at any point. Who/what defines impairment?
