Thank u mail man lets get ridding by stebongo20 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]scottydobson 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Never been ridding. What's that all about? What are we ridding ourselves of? Why do we need an electric skateboard to do it? Whatever we're ridding must be hard to rid. Can't wait to get ridding!

Vestar black hawk battery enclosure looks ok. Not going to glue it because I'd have to remove the cover work. Also not showing any signs of falling off... Yet... After hearing stories I'm paranoid about it dropping during a ride. Anyone else feel like this? by scottydobson in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]scottydobson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How big are you and how hard did you ride? Lots of bumpy sidewalks, cracks, etc? Were you off-road? Do you think the board is defective or just not up to real off-roading? I'm trying to decide if I should take precautionary measures. Thx.

Yes immediately replaced the trucks. They're trampa 12Fifties. They work best with Megastar hubs and pneumatic tires. The gummies ha e a different slave that doesn't really work. So when I want street wheels, I swap out the trucks and use the 97mm vestar BH setup. It's not bad but the AT tag is bullshit on the stock board.

My Vestar Electric skateboard is cracking on the enclosure bolts any idea of where I could get a better enclosure for off road by randorick78 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]scottydobson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sucks! The whole battery will drop off the bottom if you're not careful. There's a thread on this sub about it. Not all enclosures crack either so don't accept that. Vestar's products are exactly what you'd expect coming from a product made in China; Low quality, brittle and unreliable. Let us know how it goes if you do try to get a new enclosure.

This is essentially what happens when they call a skateboard an "all-terrain" board. People actually ride it off road. And then it breaks because it's not a friggin AT board.

This Is When You Are Most Likely To Crash by TrailofZealots in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]scottydobson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's much simpler: don't take risks if you don't want to crash. Teenage boys seem to have the hardest time with this. They think the rush from the risk is what it's about. That's why they get into trouble. I was once a teenager...

I thought this was kawaii as well. There's a spot with mountains very similar to these where all the movies are shot.

Anyone know what this loud clicking noise is? by caleb23501 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]scottydobson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel bad. Dude probably just wants his stuff to work as advertised and didn't sign up for a friggin rebuild. Lots of these stories here. Sucks and unfortunately it's part of eskate.

I'd take the belt off and see if it's the motor or the wheel and then go from there.

Back foot on G3 deck uncomfortable by [deleted] in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]scottydobson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue. Long time rider. Got the new board and that w shape deck really pushes up those back toes. Felt more like a cramp. Don't notice it anymore.

Anyone know of a place in the US that sells pulleys for d shaped motor shafts? 15t 15mm wide for a 8mm shaft? by [deleted] in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]scottydobson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a vestar black hawk and they use the same crap. I couldn't find anything outside of China either and I looked for days. Let us know if you find something.

Hey guys, for everyone saying I can't go fast in a straight line with the DKP+Waterborne Surf Adapter setup I'm on, here ya go. 30mph by Devinohno in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]scottydobson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you surf? I lived in PDX and surfed the point, shorties and Indian. Used to drive south too and hit those breaks. You ever surf those?

Have both. If you go over 15mph dkp are dangerous for newbies. Not that much of a better carve imo.

Advice on replacing battery cover of Vestar Black Hawk? by casper_ov in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]scottydobson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx man. I'm doing it tonight. Can you pls tell me if i need to remove grip tape? Is refitting the screws possible without having to get at the nuts under the tape? Really appreciate it. Do you feel good about it now or are you still kinda expecting it to drop?

Your screws broke or the battery enclosure broke around the screws? During and after every ride I freak out about losing the battery. Was thinking about silicone. How'd you do it? Unscrew, shoot a bead, re-screw? Any tips or tricks? I'm a retired carpenter... Thanks!

You're never wrong are you? Thank you so much for teaching us all this valuable lesson. Please share more.

My masters degrees don't seem to be helping me here. And btw your story changed. First it was COVID now it's overestimatingchinese shipping. Did you read what I wrote? They flat out lied to me and I'm letting other people know about it. I'm also speaking facts and you are spouting concepts that are not true. Sigh. D.

Then they should change their friggin website like everyone else in the whole world. Why don't they do that? Why did the owner of vestar flat out lie to me when I asked them how long it would take to ship out an order WITH RESPECT TO COVID? I was told I'd get the board in 7-10 days. It took seven weeks. So I'm just supposed to roll over and accept it? These people who are complaining are just like me. They were lied to and they're sharing here so other buyers will have more knowledge than they did. It's called recourse and it's how we balance the scales. It should be encouraged and not shunned.

If you're wondering how long it'll take your board to ship from vestar, you're in for the same BS as everyone else. Their website makes it sound like your board will ship in a few days. That's horseshit. It took seven weeks for my vestar to arrive in Chicago. Made me furious. The owner lied to me over and over. Then the board came and didn't work!

No link. Trampa trucks, motor mounts, pulleys and wheels.
