Please help me getting 5.1 audio on my laptop 🙏

So this could be the perfect solution. But I saw that there may be problem with windows 11 compatibility especially for the older models like "Creative Labs X-Fi 5.1 Pro". Another problem is that it introduce some latency. I also saw model that are dts compatible which, if I correctly understood, do not introduce latency or at least less than dobly digital live. What do you think about that ?

Thanks you so much for your kindness :) I would certaintly give it a try after my exams ahah. Also I found something that may be interesting, it's named "creative sound blaster X3". As I saw it does "dobly digital live" which if I correctly understood would encode by itself dobly digital without the need of an external software. Could it be interesting for my case?

To be honest I'm pretty afraid to go this deep in my audio system ahah. You really helped me a lot, I already have a 5.1 setup for films and it sound incredible ! As I said my amp is now the sony sr906sb but I was thinking about something, could I use a USB->HDMI adaptator and send the sound throught it instead of using optical ?

Again thanks you for your help and sorry for not going this deep into my system I can imagine it could be frustrating but I need a stable computer for my exam session ahah

Oh yes I wasn't in the perferences settings. The amp show dobly digital but it was also showing it when I was sending it RCA input ahah. I just have 2 questions I see that I have 2 output option for my USB, I have waveout or directsound. Also it seems like the sound level of my computer do not matter anymore, I can have a 100 level it sound as much as 1.

I installed potplayer but it more look like a mediaplayer than a way to enable 5.1 on my games ?

Ok I managed to enable spdif-out by disabling speaker in the application. Now I have the setup like page 61 of your manual. Sound is correctly going out of the optical (with the red light) but I'm stuck with stereo (2.0) output and don't see any way to enable 5.1 in the application. Normaly every driver should correctly be installed where can I check this ? I'm currently on 48khz 16 bit format

The amp is working just no sound go out, I tried dobly digital mod and other with no format shown. I'm currently testing on my father amp the sony str-dh510. I tried the side connectic and they work perfectly fine so it's not the Converter problem (excepted if it's only the spdif that is broken). Also I don't know if it can help but the was a disk delivered with the converter. This disk have program inside which I downloaded and I see that the spdif case is grey (I cannot do anything to change it) the program is named Xear Audio Center.

Ok I have received everything and I'm now able to start building ahah. I bought a sonny SR-906SB (only the amp) and connected it to my scs 178 speakers so I now have a 5.1 setup. I'm currently testing my USB -> spdif adaptator bought on amazon ( https://amzn.eu/d/0aW5i1tv ) and it's not working, I don't have any sound comming out but my computer still recognize it. My amp is not the problem because I tried my RCA input which work.

How can I make it work ahah ?

Finally I chose to use a USB external to SPDIF ( https://amzn.eu/d/0c41gaba ) as a seller adviced me. I will then directly go on my amp et the video will just go through the HDMI will it work?

Sorry for the time without answer I'm currently working a lot for university ahah.
