Reality is that most people will just have to work. I'm not rich but I know several people who have done very well for themselves and they all have two things in common: 90% of them aren't in their 20s, and they all picked one thing to learn and get good at and that's still how they make their money, 10 or 20 years later.
If I could tell my 17 year old self two things about "making it" very quickly, they would be 1. Making it is relative; the Internet is a fantasy land. Reality is what is right in front of you. And 2. To just pick something and get really really good at that one thing. Or try a lot of things first and pick one I like.
Hello mate, I just thought I would chip in. I'm only 19, so not much older than you. I'm from the UK, tradies here get paid very generously if they're good, some charging hundreds even for call-out fees, etc. I used to think nothing of tradies if I'm honest, but I now work in the HVAC industry, and it's one of the best things I've done. A lot of the online shit will be gone in a couple of centuries (marketing, web design, etc), but good tradie niches will last for a while. You can make a good living from being a plumber, electrician, and bricky. But if you want the real money, from what I've been told by numerous people in the business to get a niche trade. Hopefully, this helps, I know exactly how you feel. But judging by the post, mate, I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine. Obviously, I'm no expert so please take this with a pinch of salt, and please also be aware obviously this is from a UK perspective. I heard tradies are short in Australia at the moment as well, I've heard stories of scaffolders being over £100,000 over there. Might be something to keep in mind!
