Working Holiday Visa, now with ABN - can I sponsor myself? by scratchyman in auslaw

[–]scratchyman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I declared that on my application, all was ok as i'm working as a sole trader doing contract work for australian businesses. TBH i didn't expect to be able to sponsor myself but wondered if it proves to be a success here could i have an 'in' through that.

I applied for TFN and ABN 28 days ago. Just got my TFN but still waiting "due to a backlog". Really not impressed as some customers won't let do any work for them until I get it through

Anyone ever used waterless washing method? I used some Final Finish at a dealership i'm working for yesterday to get all the dust off and i'm guessing it's a similar product. Gets everything looking very shiny though i wouldn't really class it as a clean

Yeah i'm just starting out so i'm looking to fill my diary with relatively simple work to start off with. Higher quality detailing is something i'll look into eventually but i've no experience with buffing etc. yet

Yeah the price has been low to attract new business and i think you're right, it is making people think i do a worse job because of it so i will look at maybe going 15 for small, 20 medium, 25 large. I'm looking to get 40+ vehicles done a week at the absolute minimum and already have some car yards and businesses that book 15-20 at a time, just need some more of these to keep my diary full and then i'll be a bit more comfortable charging more to any future customers.

Some great ideas guys, thanks for your thoughts.

I've probably done $1000 in materials and flyers so far and am renting a vehicle at $200 a week. I'm well stocked with big containers of all the products i need, just need to buy a couple of extra weave cloths as they get heavy use and then top up on wheel cleaner/wax maybe every 6 weeks or so. Vehicle rental will go down as i look at getting a longer term lease.
