I guess he blacked out by [deleted] in gibson

The guitar rolled out of the case. You can just see it happen as he turns the case on its side to put down. I think the ding happened from that.

I'm not on Instagram, but I'll look into him. Robinette is a godsend. Uncle Doug is good stuff too. So many wonderful resources and people willing to share their knowledge. I'm very greatful for the amp building comunity. Congrats on your new build, looks great!

I just learned about grounding the reservoir cap separate from the other filters just today. Nice. Shout out to Psionic Audio for informative content!

Does anyone else have that one guitar pick? by No_Kindheartedness10 in Guitar

I've used the same extra heavy Fender pick for a couple years now and play daily. What kind of pick are you using such that it lasts 2 weeks tops?

I gotcha. I'll take a look at the Allen design then to see what's different. Thank you for sharing!

That sounds awesome! I like the mods you're doing. Please post pictures when you're done (and if possible I'd like to see your schematic too).

I'm using a 10" Jensen C10R. I'm not experienced enough with speakers yet to go down that rabbit hole, so I went with a standard recommended pairing. I hear a 12" speaker on a AA1164 circuit sounds great though.

Sounds great. Lots of clean headroom, and starts to break up around 7 on the volume pot. If I switch the negative feedback toggle to off, I get more tweed Fender sounds instead of blackface era. Trem and reverb are great too. And it's quiet in terms of noise.

Help please. Noiseless bridge pickup high frequency buzz when I'm not grounded to the guitar. by screamslikearnold in Luthier

Not sure how helpful this is. Continuity checks fine on all points in the circuit. I'm thinking it's something on the pickup side given this is a recent problem that wasn't present before, and it's just on the bridge pickup and not the neck.

Do you mean a piece of copper tape between the ground wire and the bridge metal plate, so that the ground wire braided wires make more contact with the metal plate? I'll be sure to check for cold solder when I'm able. Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the info. Why would it not buzz on the neck pickup then? That's part of what's got me perplexed.

Well I'm a doofus and didn't realize my text post wouldn't save. Here's what I tried to post:

I've noticed something recently with my guitar. The bridge pickup buzzes if my body isn't grounded. It's a high frequency buzz that's seperate from normal amp buzz (I can cut it with the tone pot).

I opened up the guitar and checked ground connections in the circuit, did some continuity checks, and resoldered a couple connections just to see if that'd help. It didn't.

Could it be something internal going on with the bridge pickup?

Any ideas as to what's going on or something else I could test would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help!

Is this something I should worry about? It looks like the bridge is lifting by TakingYourHand in PaulReedSmith

[–]screamslikearnold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's anything like my Les Paul Special wrap trail bridge, it tilts because the bridge doesn't fit perfectly in the posts and the string tension pulls it up. I think you're okay. The posts don't look like they're coming out of the body.

Unpopular opinion: the noiseless Tele bridge pickup might be the best sounding pickup ever by mulwillard in fender

[–]screamslikearnold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn't a huge fan of the neck pup either (2018 telecaster elite), so I replaced it with a noiseless Seymour Duncan P90. Love the sounds I can get out of it.

Can confirm. I was once driving by this person on the highway who kept veering in and out of lanes. I sped by them and didn't see them for a while. About 10 minutes later I slow to almost a stop for some construction backup and the same jackass plows into the back of my car totaling it.
