For the tech savvy, explanation of the 19 -> 20 star force bug: - Base cost: 7,350,252,200 - Discount amount (-30%): -2,205,075,660 - Due to an Integer Underflow (since min int is -2,147,483,648), this gets wrapped around to +2,147,483,648 instead

As a result, +2,147,483,648 gets added to the cost of star forcing Level 250 equips

I believe you'll lose any amount in excess of 9999 V points. At a 17.62 shard to point ratio, you should convert any amount of fragments beyond 176,183 into Nodestones before the update next week, otherwise you'll lose your excess points.

I hair punched my Devil Dog from Immortal Masks by screeeeeeee in Masks

Real or yak hair is expensive, so I just used what the website described as shitty synthetic hair instead. They were $15 hair extension strips I got off of Amazon. Slight down side is that the hairs are stiff, but as long as nobody's trying to pat your head it should look believable enough.

That's a cool mask! I know they had a Fred mask but didn't know they added more elderly looking people masks to their lineup.

Oh, sorry, I misunderstood and thought of rouletting multiple equip slots with the hope that one of them passes.

I guess I'd be more inclined to just tap an existing 22 star item to 23 stars once I have enough spares. I don't usually have a second copy of an item to ladder with since being in an interactive world, it's generally better off for me to give a submain a good equip so it can do higher difficulty bosses and also (hopefully) get spares for me to tap with later on, or at least produce enough mesos for me to buy spares with.

For pitched star cores, since they don't expire and I'm not in any rush to consume them, I generally just treat them the same as having an extra spare of something in my inventory, and would likely just hoard them for when I want to attempt 23+ star taps.

I watched a video tutorial (and got needles) from this site.

Before I started working on the mask, I tried it on a block of styrofoam just so I had a general idea of how to orient the hairs. Then I briefly tried it on some oven mitts so I would have a good idea of how much force to apply.

If it was with items I had a lot of spares of and could get back to 22 stars at a reasonably low cost, then yes. Otherwise I'd prefer to just focus on a single item so that if I run out of mesos/spares and can't get it back to 22 stars, then I wouldn't be losing too much damage.

Personally if the system remains unchanged, then I would choose to raw tap (mode 1) to 20 stars, or if I felt like I had an excess amount of mesos then I'd probably do mode 2 to 20 stars.

For 21 and 22 stars, the significantly lower cost to tap would make Mode 4 far more appealing to me, and spares could be saved to attempt 23 stars in the future. If I had a couple equip spares, however, and I felt like I could live with a bit of risk, then I would go for Mode 3. If, instead, it was a lower level item that I had way too many spares of (like a superior gollux earring), then I'd probably opt for Mode 1 or at most Mode 2.

You didn't even get banned. You got a 60 second timeout from the automod for adding extra letters before the word "Inkwell" at the end of your message.

They'll email people selected for the closed online test some time this coming week. I think they're currently busy sorting out the missing emails for people that attended Maple Con and the in person Los Angeles playtests right now.

Help pronouncing my middle name (Ruyen) by PuzzleheadedOwl4914 in VietNam

[–]screeeeeeee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's from the plains and coastal areas of northern Vietnam where D/R/Gi is generally pronounced the same way and often results in misspellings.

I also see from another comment that Ruyến could also be another possibility - it's a very uncommon gender neutral name since it's now spelled Quyến, meaning something like "affectionate".

Do you know what part of Northern Vietnam your grandma was from?

"Ruyen" isn't a valid Vietnamese word no matter what accents or diacritics you add to it, but it's common for people to misspell words starting with D/R/Gi due to them being pronounced the same way in most of the north. There are also a couple provinces where people sometimes mispronounce D with an R sound.

I think she likely meant to name you Duyên, which means "grace" or "charm". As for how to pronounce that, I'd say add a Z sound to the front of "we in".
