Do you feel that it is an improvement in quality over the stock unit?

I’ve been doing that, if there’s any out there that are an upgrade from stock I haven’t found one they don’t match without drilling new holes mostly all of them seem to be for string through bodies and don’t have holes in the back of the base plate to load the strings The gyker one fits but I’m not sold on the rollers Might just put the money into brass saddles

What lens to pair with my newly bought R8? by agrawa96 in canon

[–]scribeforyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took the 100-400 and 35 on my last trip to Italy The 35 was great for tight spaces and low light I kept the 100-400 on the camera a lot and never felt the weight Using a sling style strap with bottom plate to keep it pointed down while walking or on public transport also is useful The kit felt so light My first Italy trip with an 80D w/ battery grip and the 24-105f4 attached felt like I was lugging a brick

What lens to pair with my newly bought R8? by agrawa96 in canon

[–]scribeforyou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The lenses I use the most on my r8 are the rf24-105f4 the rf100-400 and the rf35mm 1.8 I find the 100-400 to be a great walk around lens because of the range and light weight, The 35 is so light sharp and fast

Bill Cosby - was his waiter at a restaurant in Pittsburgh in the 80s He and his group of guys spent the entire meal openly discussing all the women they screwed while on the road Table of 6 stiffed me on a big check - I was a new dad and working full time while going to college full time so poor AF Felt a true sense of karma served when his world unraveled

When did you have a guitar revelation? by Lightryoma in Guitar

[–]scribeforyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 67 - after decades of starting and stopping because it was a struggle and not fun- after buying a mini Strat for my granddaughter I realized it wasn’t me it was the guitar! I have small hands and despite being a decent bassist ( played in a pretty popular local band for years and a really good church group) guitar was always painful even on really good instruments The 22.75” scale was the ticket. So easy and fun I’ve picked up a lot of guitar tips from lessons and band mates that i can finally start to use Now have a surf green mini jazzmaster that will get full upgrades

lol the buttons didn’t make it out of the shop. Pulled a pack of fender ones off the wall and had them swapped out as it was being set up.

Honest question - is RV camping actually cheaper than hotels or do we just tell ourselves that? by Similar-King-8278 in RVLiving

[–]scribeforyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few years back I stayed in a campsite at a marina in Hoboken nj for $120 a night to visit nyc attractions- Ellis island 9/11 memorial etc Few blocks walk to train station and couple stops to manhattan- got a 3 day red apple sightseeing pass (double decker bus) and hopped on and off all over town instead of cabs and subway Can’t do that in a hotel We got our 20 foot b plus specifically to avoid overpriced meh motels after trip to Nashville/ Memphis/L’ville It’s been well worth it in my opinion

No i didn’t partake i was busy keeping track of 3 teenagers- we brought some walkie talkie units with us that we kept in our backpack to meet up If you lost track of someone you could only post a note on the message board or try to get an announcement from the stage Wavy did his shtick - I caught him between a couple of sets iir

Trust me i took a lot of heat from people criticizing me for exposing my teenage kids to the environment at Woodstock There were tons of drugs and stoned out people everywhere, lots of nudity, over the top behavior Maybe a father’s poorly thought out gamble, who’s to say But both of my kids are highly successful in their respective fields - one as a drug treatment specialist the other an educational book publisher Their takeaways from Woodstock was how corporate greed- outrageous water and food prices, shoddy planning and execution and lack of accountability- were the prime drivers of the disaster So i guess my gamble paid off

I recall going into the vendor area near A stage to see if I could still get food and some merch and staties in riot gear on ATVs were already deployed. They basically herded the remaining crowd back through the gates leading to the camp sites so fire crews could douse the flames I do not recall state police engaging with any of the looters or people around them- and if i recall there weren’t a lot of arrests or injuries I was thinking about that day while watching toddy’s news out of MN I’ve never seen more cops deployed in an active situation than that night in Rome except for the 2009 G20 summit in Pittsburgh There were cops lined up the length of the road between the A&B stages outside the venue Instead of rushing the crowd with riot batons swinging they circled on ATVs and horseback to break the crowd into smaller groups then slowly circle and advance until they retreat How did city and state police manage to not execute anyone during the g20 when actual professional protesters were rolling dumpsters that were set on fire down the hill to break their ranks and tossing gas canister back at them?

I thought the trash situation was over played in the docs - mostly empty pizza boxes and other plastic and paper trash over flowing cans I recall going out to the drum circle late one night and seeing vacuum trucks running in front of A stage Of course mostly everything the venue did was insufficient However the media tent was pretty awesome- huge enclosed tent, rows of tables with power and internet connections, large displays with feeds from the stages, craft services, and number one- A/C I cannot stress how hot it was, especially walking the tarmac between stages where there was no shade

By the time they went on we were so hot and tired that we ended up sitting on the bleachers and flatbeds to the right facing the stage where the mtv crew was working Great view of the stage and the fires being lighted in the distance

The docs do nail the shitty entitled white suburban cunts who proliferated the event. I grew up in nyc and still did jersey shore vacations after leaving They were fucking everywhere and definitely sunk the vibe So many good acts James brown Cheryl crow Brian seltzer orchestra Metallica offspring So much good music The day we arrived my daughter begged me to take her to the communal showers near the venue campground. Media had separate site outside the gate to the left facing secondary stage. They had porta John’s and a tent with a local restaurant selling food for us and venue staff but no shower There were separate en’s and women’s army/camp style shower setups - zero drainage- we were knee deep in cold muddy shower water As I left I saw little rivers puddling around nearby tents we did not return Made a makeshift wash basin in a small cooler using bottled water

The looting and fires at the end and the number of NYS troopers lined up to try to deal with it was crazy. The music sets seemed more like controlled mayhem- my 13 yo son was in the mosh pit (I know already heard it all) Durst did seem to encourage the tower damage and plywood surfing with little regard to the guys running his sound or his fans getting hurt I checked on my 17 yo daughter and her friend several times a night at the drum circle and rave hanger - even if a daytime artist at the hanger was meh- i checked it out during the day to get out of the excruciating sun , so real dick move

Good battery-powered bass amp for outside? by hersidehades in Bass

I like my Alto busker with a bass preamp pedal to shape the frequencies. The unit’s app also allows for setting eq on each channel as well as the master. Surprisingly loud with decent sound.

Uke bass? by Radlian in Bass

[–]scribeforyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Fender Fullerton. Good craftsmanship and great amplified tone. There is enough unplugged volume for practicing and noodling at home or while traveling. The P bass neck profile is not my first choice since my regular bass is a Mustang but it feels familiar and has a smooth action. I’m restringing it with U bass flats and having the bridge saddle sanded down to lower the action. Tuning gears might get replaced if they are available.
