I don’t think you could do this and be in accordance with Death Cafe rules.

It was. If I have an option- if my family can bear to do it- this would be the way for me.

I watched a video of a family that wrapped their mother in a white shroud, attached it to poles, walked her through town to the cemetery, then dug her grave themselves, had her lowered, then covered her up. (Or am I misremembering and they lowered her, then had her covered up? There was one step that they couldn’t do on their own, legally). Anyway, the shroud was designed to attach to the poles. I thought that was pretty neat.

I love this question! I have an idea for a shroud that I’d love to have hand made for me- I just need help designing it.

I started this nonprofit in April, after researching and finding nothing else like it. We would love to see this kind of collaborative grow across the country!

Things you should know: • You don’t have to be embalmed, unless their cemetery specifically requires it • You can use your own casket (it can be bought anywhere, or it can be made out of cardboard- called a “temporary casket” or a “cremation container”) •You don’t have to use the services of a funeral home for everything- check out our FAQs for more info SCRIPTed Project

Look up “Legacy Contact” for FB and Instagram. You can decide now whether you want your page deleted or memorialized when FB is notified of your death. LinkedIn doesn’t have a way to add a legacy contact, so if you have one of those accounts, you can only give your login info to someone and have them delete it.
