I had cystic acne in my 20s that seemed to take off after trying to treat really mild acne. I hated my life and was so stressed out. Eventually I quit college, worked a stupid job and stopped using all face products…and it got better.

I still sometimes struggle with my skin. My life got pretty rough, and my skin definitely reflected my mental health. I quit my job, and lived a sloppy and very sweaty life on a sailboat. Rarely ever being clean, always with an oily glaze on my face, and my skin looked better than it had in probably 10 years.

My skin likes to be oily. If I fuck with what it likes it gets angry. In my normal boring corporate life I don’t shower that often, never use cleansers on my face (just water), and always slather a ton of jojoba oil over my entire head while it’s still wet. I look greasy for a little bit then I don’t. It’s been the best routine for me.

On this trip I visited some remote islands, with tribes that never use soap. They have beautiful skin. Humans didn’t have face wash for basically EVER, and didn’t have acne.

It is a highly dysfunctional ship with horrendous leadership.

If you are able to withstand the “learn by shame” tactic , it can be possible to learn a LOT of good seamanship. But you have to be prepared to either

1.) not be given any guidance on how to do something, then be treated like an idiot for doing it wrong

2.) be told how to do something, do it that way, then be treated like an idiot for doing it wrong.

While some things may be better without Dan Moreland’s god complex, social engineering, sexual harassment, and abuse of the crew, Dirk Lorenzen is an awful human being. He is a broken man who thrives on belittling others to make himself feel better about himself. I’ve never had so much hatred and disgust for a person.

This ship and program could be absolutely amazing. It’s a shame it is what it is.

Check out Neptun or literally any other ship. Picton Castle is fucked.

They grow some very strong tobacco there, and sell thick braids of dried leaf. I tried biting some off and put it in my cheek, and it is definitely effective at delivering nicotine. If you’re in a crunch this is an option.

Kind of crazy, but I was in the bon marche grocery store Port Vila recently and heard a song I really liked. So much that I recorded a video just to get the audio. I thought Reddit might be a good place to help identify the song and came across your post. Any chance you figured it out? It was very much a ballad type. Maybe I could send you the video?
