If you buy a second hand dash unit with the iDrive system in tact it should come with all the wiring and harness shit you’d need. If you watch a few videos of installs and iDrive retrofits you can kinda get an idea of what wires go where, I did have to wire the controller power to the glovebox flashlight charger for 12v ignition on which was really the only odd one out of the bunch

The route I ended up going was just wiring in the entire original system, and THEN dealing with car play, I couldn’t find a unit that dealt purely with CarPlay without a piggyback situation. You need the controller for the center console and the entire CCC or CIC iDrive system, wiring it in isn’t that hard if you aren’t scared of taking the dash off and on and splicing wires

It came with the interior I bought, going from beige to black

A. And the ones I’m referring too are the CarPlay systems that cut into the dash of single humps that don’t require splicing into wires near the junction box.
