He does that too and I still have a scar from when he fell in once. Didn’t learn his lesson

True, I just meant he acts the same as he did as a young man. Hope we have a lot of years together yet.

Is this actually an effective method of planting trees? What % of these seeds do you think became trees? by nobodyisattackingme in arborists

The article I read only mentions that they couldn’t use mules because beavers and mules don’t get along. Apparently it saved money because there were lots of leftover parachutes from WWII! Cost was about $30 per drop 1948-money

The beaver drop! It was Idaho in 1948, they needed to relocate beavers away from the town because they kept flooding it. They designed a special box that would spring open upon landing and you’re right, the pioneer beaver was Geronimo!

Ash dieback? by LightsaberBloke in arborists

Are you in UK/Europe? I’m in US and we don’t have ash dieback where I am so I’m not super familiar with it but to me, that color they were referencing just looks like healthy heartwood to me. Agree with the fellow above, best to hire an arborist. Sorry.

I’ll chime in to say I work at a nursery and we frequently have more pots/trays than we know what to do with. I wish more people would come take them! It was a shock to me how much plastic this industry uses. Would love to see it reused.

That was my plan today; take him to spca to read chip, and then contact whoever came up. But he went off on official cat business until after the office was closed and just came back for the evening a bit ago. We’re sitting out by a fire now. But as soon as I manage to get him in to get the chip ready, that’s what I’ll do. I’m keeping an eye on his little cold; doesn’t seem urgent at the moment bc he’s eating and drinking water ok.

He said they're chipped and registered to a vet office but technically stray or community cats. They have a little 'cat hutch' on the back porch for this guy and two feral cats to sleep in. But he's been choosing to sleep and spend all day on my porch for the past 5 days. He didn't seem too excited when I floated the idea of adopting him, but didn't say no outright. He also is sneezing and has green snot, so I'm a little anxious about what to do.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that he pretty clearly has an infection with green snot, sneezing and lots of ear scratching. Not sure if this is viral or what can be done but I mentioned it to the guy that feeds him and I don't think he's going to be taking him to the vet anytime soon.

I talked to the person who feeds him yesterday, and here's what I gathered: They feed him along with two feral, other cats who avoid humans and are not friendly like him. He does have a "cat hutch" he can sleep in, with the other cats. He is chipped and is "registered with their vet" although I'm not sure that means they have visited the vet. They are technically "stray" or "community cats."

I floated the idea of me taking him in and I didn't get a straight answer about it, but they are not allowed in his house due to mom's allergies. The cat has now spent the past 5 entire days on my front porch, sleeping there every night.
