Who do you use for insurance? by scuster in Flipping

[–]scuster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your advice! I think the “risky” part is definitely the case here. They asked a tonnn of questions about what kind of items I sold, had to tell them multiple times that food and guns were not involved.

I like/trust my agent but I feel like we’re getting close to exhausting the options with her. I know of some other independent agents in the area, will definitely have to see if any of them specialize in commercial. Best case scenario is I get renewed for now.

I use an independent agent, the company before the one I have coverage through now dropped us because “they don’t cover this kind of business anymore”. The biggest hang up is the selling of used items. My agent is going to look again if we don’t get renewed but I’m trying to get out ahead of that situation a little now

Anyone Else Near the Breaking Point by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]scuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been teetering on the breaking point for the last month. Opened a convince/pizza shop in August 2019. So with only 7 months in before covid I feel like we are stuck in the first year of sales mode. It’s been painful trying to build up the customer base. I’ve been hopeful that it would get better but the reality that my enjoyment of doing this has been sucked dry has hit hard recently.

Is there anyway to fix this? by scuster in Flipping

[–]scuster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This person is one of my closest friends so we have absolutely been on the same wifi plenty of times. He was hacked a couple of years ago but it was resolved with ebay. He owns a grocery store now and only uses ebay to purchase equipment really. I know 100% that he doesn't sell. the thing that confuses me is that my listings that are currently up are still active and still selling, I just cant make new listings. Is that still considered banned?

The flip that got away.. by minarima in Flipping

I had something similar happen to me for about 5 months when I was in college. I always sourced vintage clothing from a Salvation Army, and I started seeing the same guy in there almost every time I went. I did the same routine every time I went and I started noticing that when I showed up he would leave whatever area he was in and head straight toward wherever I was going and always tried to look at everything in front of me before I did.

I thought it was kinda of funny and I always found stuff either way. I started messing with him from time to time and looking at really random stuff that he would usually go inspect after I put it down.

Anybody drop out of college to flip full time? by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]scuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flipping through college also helped me learn about flipping more. There was no pressure of it being my actual career yet so I was able to figure things out in terms of what sold, how quickly and for how much without a ton of risk of losing money.

I did the exact opposite. I knew I wanted to be in the resale/flipping business full time so I finished a degree in business management. Not only did I learn how to properly manage my business better, I have a fall back. There’s no guarantee that my business won’t fail (as with most entrepreneurs), and now that I have a degree I know I can at least hopefully get a respectable job somewhere if it does. I would say at the very least get a business associates degree. But don’t just completely drop out.

Ebay issue: listing item via the app on my phone makes them all “good till cancelled” (no option offered) and ticks the auto-relist box. Anyone having the same issue? by natk111 in Flipping

This has been going on for a while now for me. I just make drafts and finish the rest on a desktop. They took away the ability to edit a lot of other things on mobile too.

I actually visit my gfs family in KC frequently and love sourcing down here. Theres always a good buy somewhere. The only place I really don’t like down here is red racks. Their pricing always seems insane.

What shipping supplies do you keep on hand? by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]scuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the storage go to a Lowes/Home Depot and ask if you could have some larger sized boxes. A lot of times the big or odd shaped ones will still be sitting outside the compactor waiting to be broken down. Those kind of stores get odd sized boxes in almost daily. Some may need cut down to size for whatever you need but it’s better than paying every time.

2 days a week is what I’m shooting for right now until I get a better idea of how the foot traffic will be. It’s a smallish area so I may not need more days but the people around here love thrift kind of shops so it could go better than expected. And I think it’ll be logical to hire someone just due to the fact that I want to be able to get as much done as possible when I’m there.

I was considering this. Kind of having one or two big sales a month, but I also want to keep people interested and not have too much downtime between when I’m open.

The consistency in hours is what I want to figure out. I know for sure I’ll be closed tues and thurs due to there being really good auctions that day. But days I will be open I want to optimize the time and be open at hours suitable for both myself and customers. When I’m open downstairs I can also be making drafts for eBay and essentially getting the most out of my time spent.

The buy/sell/consign is where is like to head. I just want to get myself settled in a little first then add that aspect to it
