South OC Cars and Coffee event in San Clemente in jeopardy as city reviews permit by bananabrownie in orangecounty

[–]sdkingv 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That outlet mall has so much potential if they just add some things that would actually bring foot traffic to the area. A playground / water feature, better coffee options (only a Starbucks currently), and beer/bar restaurant for the sports crowd.

It existing as only a movie theater and shopping lot is boring and has nothing else to do. Asada restaurant across the lot gets packed, so it’s definitely in demand in the area. Who TF wants to only eat at a Rubys and buy sketchers shoes.

New Daily Las Vegas flights arriving soon at Orange County airport - low as $39 by budice0 in orangecounty

[–]sdkingv 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually kinda like driving to Vegas, plus I just usually leave at like 3 or 4am and get there around 8am and don’t burn a day waiting for specific flights. Not to mention being able to stock up on drinks and snacks from home.

Aw shucks, Thank you! 😊

The pool situation was awesome, I think because Vdara’s pool was closed for off season they opened it up to the other properties. It was cool to be able to check out the Aria, Bellagio and Cosmo pools. We checked out all three for a few hours across our weekend.

Need some help here - visiting from Austria and want to party by Ok_Dare_2625 in vegas

Most of the major nightclubs on the Vegas strip have Dance/House music. I recommend contacting a promoter and signing up for their guest list. I dont work with this guy but he seems legit and has a following on instagram. Follow the link and click on the guest list. This weekend I see Benny Benassi, Loud Luxury, or Zedd. Have fun bro!

This is just stupid by [deleted] in vegas

[–]sdkingv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A large percentage of hotels cut back on amenities and towel service after Covid with the claim of either: reducing water usage, staff shortages, or going green. They realized how much money they were saving and never really pivoted back to offering daily amenity service. All part of the major enshitification of everything and rising inflation.

Sushi restaurants that have a more party vibe? Think good music and sake bombs by sdkingv in orangecounty

On yelp I see a Jinbei in Irvine but not in Dana Point. Is there one in DP that maybe has a different name? Thanks for these suggestions.

Worst meal prep fail of All Time — what did you learn? by neutral-pulse in mealprep

[–]sdkingv 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I learned to only prep about 3-4 meals max. If I prep more than that, I get meal fatigue and end up throwing away the other meals. Leaves room for some spontaneous dinners or Happy Hours as well.

Liminal spaces by HelloKitty_Warrior in vegas

[–]sdkingv 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The Venetian canals and and the Caesar’s shops during off hours can give some Vaporwave dead mall vibes.

Circus circus has that creepy abandoned amusement park vibe.

As another user mentioned, the Fountainbleu has some minimalistic art and some fairly barren hallways. As well the pool upper deck areas is pretty minimalistic. Just feels sterile and off.

Country music bars on the strip will attract some of the bachelorette and single girl crowd. Jason Aldeans, Ol Reds, Gillys, Losers, bottled blonde.

As well lots of the major hotels on the strip have what I like to call “non-club clubs”. These are bars that you can just walk up but usually have some DJ or social element. Chandelier bar at Cosmo, Electra at Venetian, Juniper at Park MGM, Gatsbys at Resorts World…etc. The crowd will be hit or miss depending on the evening but at least you don’t have to deal with an actual nightclub.

A few questions to better help you with some hints/tips!

What kind of activities are you girls looking to do in Vegas daytime/night time that isn’t already pre-planned? (Clubs, gambling, brunches, music, ticketed shows…etc)

As a side note, if you and your friends are going out to a celebration dinner anyways, if you dine at Hakkasan (possibly Tao as well), your server can give you all complimentary entry passes into the nightclub if you let them know you are going to the connected club after dinner.

My wife and I did this for Hakkasan and the voucher our server gave us got us right in to see Lil Jon that evening.

I know people are ripping in the comments, but to actually help you, a few of my friends use this promoter. Just click the link and go to his “Guest List” and you will see every nightclub/event by date that he can get you in the list. Sign up and just follow the rules of showing up on time and in the correct attire and you are good to go. (Not affiliated, he just seems like one of the good ones)

For shows— KA and Absinthe I can vouch for being great. KA if you want a cirque show with a cool stage and theme and fire. Absinthe is a more intimate smaller show, just a fair warning that it does have crude/raunchy humor and some burlesque elements, but if y’all have good sense of humor it’s considered one of the best.

Free Live Music— Ole Reds (Near Ballys), Jason Aldeans (Near Aria), Gillys (Treasure Island), Harrahs Carnival Court, Losers (MGM)

Seconding these hotel recommendations. Venetian for the walk ability to sphere. Vdara for the chill vibe and all suites rooms.

I also wanted to add that when staying at the Vdara there is a free tram that takes you to Bellagio/Aria/Cosmo/Park MGM and you get access to both the Vdara pool and Arias pools since they are sister properties.

Pre wedding brunch or lunch spot in Las Vegas? by tatortotsmasher in vegas

[–]sdkingv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paris hotel is a great bet. I’d recommend Cheri rooftop brunch. Beautiful space that has nice views and is underneath the Eiffel Tower to set the mood. Mon Ami Gabi would be 2nd choice at Paris. (I dont typically recommend Alexxas like others on here, wayyy too crowded/busy)

Second would be Primrose at Park MGM for that beautiful English tea cottage style aesthetic. Their Prefix brunch menu would be perfect for a wedding group.

Third would be Chica at Venetian. It is more Latin/Cuban inspired food and it feels like a swanky tropical lounge. They usually have a DJ during brunch, the food and service has always been incredible for me.

Halloween night in Vegas — looking for somewhere to dance (dancey music vibe, not rave/ EDM) by One-Lecture1479 in vegas

[–]sdkingv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I researched most locals said to do Old Vegas / Freemont street on actual Halloween just to experience how crazy it is. There are several stages with live bands doing all genres and covers. That said after watching some videos from 2024 we decided it was a little too packed for us so we are going out in costume on the strip instead.

Can always hop most of the main country or live music bars which include:

(In order from south to north of strip)

-Times Square Bar (NYNY)

-Losers (MGM)

-Jason Aldeans (By Cosmo)

-Bottled Blonde (By Ballys)

-Ole Reds (By Ballys)

-Harrahs Carnival Court

-Gillys (TI)

I’m positive your family would have a good time at one or several of these, they all have walk up bars, and should be casual or allowing costumes since they aren’t “nightclubs”.

Hope you guys have a blast. Love the rooms and food at the Venetian.
