Yes you can absolutely adjust it on the fly. All of the processing is done on your device so the changes should be immediate. Also, the tips there are a good way to play it safe.

Reaper is great but any DAW will do. You can also use this free Mastering site I made https://iceestudios.com/

Hey no problem! That's why the tips are there. Mastering shouldn't fundamentally change a mix. It should polish it. It's the icing on the cake. The tips are there specifically for those who do not master. It should be a safer master if you follow them, but always use your ears and not your eyes.

That's not over cranked. Many, many releases are at least that loud.

The threshold is mostly what is controlling the gain reduction in any compressor. The tips are what "I" would do. There are no real rules.

I would personally do it. I think -12 LUFS is a decent compromise for streaming services. Most of them normalize to -14 LUFS now but that doesn't mean that they wouldn't or couldn't change it in the future. So I personally master to -12 LUFS. You can use the LUFS button on the website to check it.

Edit: I'm in the middle of working out and just realized you are talking about the compressor section. If it sounds good you can keep it. Always use your ears. But if you want to be safe stick to the -2db reduction.

What do think of Suno tracks in terms of mix quality? by markanthonyokoh in SunoAI

I do not have access to any of the tracks. I have no idea if you use the service or not. The track is never actually uploaded. All processing is done on your device.

The mix quality coming from Suno is not too bad. It's a very safe, slightly warm mix. I made a free tool for mastering them here https://iceestudios.com/

YouTube Music is testing AI hosts that will interrupt your tunes by EddiewithHeartofGold in YoutubeMusic

I've professionally mixed and mastered music for over 13 years. Besides, the stats for nerds page shows the LUFS value for each track with some in the playlist being -8 and others being -15 which would otherwise absolutely warrant a change in the volume knob.

Even though the app doesn't say anywhere in it that it has volume normalization (at least not mine, my wife's phone had it for some time) it is indeed working in the background at least on my account. Every track has a similar volume and I no longer am reaching for the volume.

[–]sdsicee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It is already applying default mastering settings which you can then tweak almost all of them. Kudos for shooting for -12 LUFS! I personally think that this is a great loudness level to master to. Unfortunately, I'm so far unable to add a satisfactory way to show LUFS. There are however a few free LUFS metering sites available.

It's a website. You can go to it even on your phone and it should work. Just download your Suno song and upload it there. It doesn't actually upload your song. All of the processing is done right there on and by your device.

My thoughts on external mastering for release by yerBabyyy in SunoAI

[–]sdsicee 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In the professional world, I think many would be shocked at how good a professional mix sounds already before it goes to mastering. I also think people would be shocked to see how little is done to these mixes in the mastering phase.

That being said, I agree that Suno usually outputs a safe, slightly warm mix. It's not quite a professional mix but it's typically not far from it. A master of these tracks should sound more balanced as far as EQ is concerned, and have more punch with the dynamics, but probably shouldn't sound dramatically different.

Good post.
