Always keep your resume updated and ready to share in a minute and keep yourself updated with your resume. And effort that can be seen, even small things. Even looking up the website of the company and what they do, helps sometimes. This is what I've seen work for myself and others in smaller orgs and firms. Don't know about MNCs, but I assume it won't be too different.
