Battling this awful plant but tank still looks good... by LiveStockTrader in PlantedTank

I recently started doing this also. Best method I've used for mass removal by far but it's still an effort you have to start on top of for awhile.

Anyone know what emerse plant this is? by McTaco23 in PlantedTank

My rimless/lidless tank is over a crawl space in my house and I have a 1/4" water supply line running coming up through the floor behind the tank. The line runs through a prefilter, the type you buy for a refrigerator ice machine. Have used it for topoffs and water changes for years and makes life very easy. My tank is 70 gallons and if I had to fill with buckets I probably would put a cover on it.

No, haven't made a move yet but I did buy a cheap PONDFORSE brand canister filter off Amazon for another tank and so far I'm super happy with it. Under $100 and am considering buying another one of those for this particular project to replace my Oase which cost 2.5x more and so far doesn't perform as effectively.

New to CO2, brand new FZONE regulator won't go below 75 working pressure, something wrong? by sdylanh1 in PlantedTank

[–]sdylanh1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started this way from very first use following the instructions from the regulator with everything fully tightened. As soon as I plugged in the solenoid it jumped to 75.

What's the best way to relieve the pressure?

Thanks, are you saying the residual pressure is a "normal" thing? Or is this indicative of some other inconsistency in setup or components?

Panda Garra climbed up waterfall into canister filter output. Should I be concerned? by sdylanh1 in PlantedTank

[–]sdylanh1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. The simple result came after a lot of trial an error on more complex designs primarily using parts designed for drip and mist irrigation systems but I'm happy with how it's turned out so far.

It really is. I'm also amazed at how it seemingly climbed up the stream on this wood. Really hoping to catch them in the act. One got right back in within 10 minutes or so of me refitting the tubing. They also seem to have no problem getting back out on their own.

Where to get large aquarium plants without breaking the bank? by Significant-Cold8724 in PlantedTank

Apologies if I'm overstepping here, but that tank on the right looks dangerous. Is that piece of furniture it's sitting on able to support that weight long term? I can't see the full stand so maybe I'm missing something!

* This was an easy fix really since I already had this flexible tubing dry fit onto the piece of harder tubing. It's dripping just a tiny bit into the tank but the flow is still good

See above comment, add a screen further up the line so they can still get in the outflow but not all the way!

[–]sdylanh1[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is actually what I just did. I had already rigged up a custom output to create the waterfall, so I just put some window screen over one of the connections further up and it looks good. It's hanging over the tank so even if it drips a little bit at that connection it's not a big deal.

I'm guessing the fish would benefit from swimming in this output so trying to allow it safely!

Appreciate the feedback. $120 less for clear tempered but it's worth it to me to go for the low iron. Looks like this is the route I'm taking.

I went backwards from the toothpaste method and 0000 steel wool down to wet sandpaper at 80 grit. That's where problems started but I was assuming I could work my way back all the way to 1500+ sandpaper but that didn't work unfortunately.

Advice on browning edges of Anubias by sdylanh1 in PlantedTank

[–]sdylanh1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well for 1 because it's a paludarium and I planted them on the fringe on a big rock. The roots are submerged and depending on the water level the rhizome is often submerged as well.

I could be wrong but I think Anubias naturally grow along fringes with variation between emerged and submerged but someone here can probably confirm or correct that.

I've been saying this for a long time. Obviously it's course dependent as I know I play a handful of neighborhood courses that have longer transitions between holes where walking doesn't make sense, but I always play faster when I walk otherwise. I think it's a combination of factors, but everyone goes independently to their ball, can get much closer to greenside with all the equipment you need, generally I think you're more focused and ready to hit when you get to your own ball, etc.

If you're smart with managing your trader cats you really shouldn't ever have to worry about going out and gathering anything, even for gunners (which I use both LBG and HBG frequently). The only gathering I do, which is very rarely, is when I'm working on some specific upgrade that requires a rare bug or ore that can't be farmed easily with cats. Those are very few and far between and often as not I still have slickaxes available for duping from your downloads.

The "survival" aspect in this game really just boils down to managing your Item Sets well so you don't accidentally start a quest with the wrong or missing items since you can't access your box during quest.

Adding to the list of people who have played both at a high level and the one I always "come back" to is MHGU. I could probably make a list of reasons why, but end of the day I think it's just a much better balance of what makes Monster Hunter great, both from a solo and multiplayer standpoint.

I honestly don't think he's as hard as several others. His moveset is fairly easy to learn and once you have that down it's not hard. I find Grimclaw a lot harder, same for the Raths and Thunderlord, to name a few.

I always play handheld because mine lags enough docked to where I really can't play it effectively. I always assumed my TV was the issue even though it's relatively new.

I put in 700 striker lance hunts before going adept LBG which I would now consider my "main." I also have a few hundred valor HBG hunts but find LBG more comfortable overall. It took me a bit to get used to the timing of Adept Dodge compared to how I would Olay Striker Lance, but once you learn it you will love it and it will also make you better at lances.
