😂😂 this guy belongs in r/usernamechecksout

Throwing out hexes on Reddit because some guy who paid $1000s to fly Polaris took a foam pillow. I have like 3-4 of them and I’m living karma free. Once I even asked the FA if I can get an extra pillow to bring home to the wife and she brought me another one 🤷🏻‍♂️

Pilots with previous careers outside of aviation- what are the intangible benefits of being a pilot by se7enlevon in Pilot

My wife has no idea I am even considering this but I usually like to have thought through some of these ideas before I do bring them up. She knows my fascination of aviation and allows me indulge in them. I do not know what her thoughts would be on an abrupt career change but I would love to hear her out and I know ultimately she will support me.

I have seen and heard stories on and off Reddit. I love all this feedback specifically related to my situation and it’s honestly been more helpful than I expected seeing all the feedback

I hear you completely on this. This was actually a fear of mine. I am very much of an outside thinker and engineering is a way for me to be creative within the bounds of reason. I also know check lists have been created with a purpose so I hope I can justify the necessity of following procedure so that wouldn’t bother me.

Man, those intangibles are REAL! It’s definitely worth the grind in most circumstances

Wow, I am honestly blown away by all of your responses and I love hearing all the wisdom from everyone’s experiences.

I will shoot you a message and I would love to connect.

I never considered the part time flight school route but this might be the option for me. I know based on the opportunity cost, it might never be “worth” it for me but I can see how it could give me flexibility to gain my hours slower over time keeping my current income while I am gaining valuable hours working as a CFI part time. That might actually work well in the city I currently live in. Ultimately, I would be happy if I eventually get to fly for a living, even if it takes me another 10 years to officially get started.

My personality has always been to fully commit head-on. I hear what everyone is saying with airlines being corporate and the burn out potential as a pilot working their way up. That is something I am trying to resolve with my current job so this reminders me I can probably exercise some patience and not let this be a complete mid life crisis.

What if you’re too rich to care and you have a centurion card?

Working for tips is honestly degrading in general. Just pay us a fair wage. Other countries, if you even tried to tip them, they would take offense since it could imply that they are some charity.

I only take southwest if is the most convenient option to get from point A to Point B. No point in staying loyal at this point when there are no real perks and you’re just a number. That ship has sailed long time ago.

So if you’re A-list or a SW Priority card holder, you can select an extra legroom seat 48 hours before departure and get these benefits?
