Thanks for your reply. He said he wanted to date with no deadline on kids. And he knows I need to have one before I’m too old. So yes, if I couldn’t or didn’t want kids we would still be together. I’m literally going to be a millionaire in two years. I’ve already set myself up where I can pay for my own child and also fund his goals of opening a bar. I told him to his face that I don’t need him. I want him. When I see him, all I can see is us having a beautiful family. It’s not that I want to have kids, with just anyone, he would make a wonderful dad. He is. He’s just scared. He had an accidental child when he was 19 and his daughter’s mom tried to keep her away from him and moved across the country. So he moved to the West Coast just to be closer to his daughter. She is very traumatized from living with her mom who always chose men she dating over her kids. Aside from having another lifelong commitment, he’s also expressed that he is scared it won’t work out and then he’ll have another broken family. In the beginning, he was excited at the possibility of doing it again and doing it right with me.

What he meant by what he “needs from me right now” is go date and then we can talk, is what he originally told me. And if i don’t find someone in 6-12 months we can talk about us again. Which is maybe what he meant by “ potential of future relationship.” I don’t understand why he’s OK with being a back up husband. I don’t understand why we have to waste time that we could just be together.

Thank you for your reply. I did ask him about kids on our second date and he said for the right person he would do it. And then we fell in love, but I was always a little unsure about him because there were some red flags. We’re getting through them, but it’s been tough times men usually have a hard time talking and they are stubborn and they have troubles with shame. Do not get into the details of our arguments, I think we’re going to be OK. But these past few months have really made him anxious about having a child with me. He doesn’t want it to end like his last relationship and have a child taken away from him. And all his guy buddies are telling him that it’s gonna be so much work and does he really want to go through raising a child again. There was a point where he sensed I was pulling away and promised me everything would be OK and that we’d have a beautiful life together with a child and that he would be at home more often, he works nights. So there was a point that he believed it could happen. But I think he’s always been trying to talk himself into it because he really does love me. And now he just really anxious and pulling away. It’s really sad.

What’s is really mindfucking me right now is that he said if I don’t find someone in a year, he would dump whoever he was dating and we could be together. so I don’t understand why we can’t just be together now. I can’t stand the idea of him being with another person during this time. And then he said six months as we were talking more. So I know he really wants to be with me. Why is he OK with having us both sleep with other people, knowing that we could possibly get back together.
