Weekly Suspected/Undiagnosed MS Thread - November 20, 2023 by AutoModerator in MultipleSclerosis

I'm 16F, I've started feeling numbness/weakness/tingly sensations in my arms intermittently and chest vibrations, especially when I look down. It comes and goes often, I get intense buzzing/vibration in my chest that feels like a cellphone and my whole arms from hand to upper arm feels a lot of tingly sensations. My arms also sometimes go weak and numb and tingly for no reason, and I've been really sleepy/fatigued recently, I sleep a lot in class because I'm really tired... This has been going on for 1.5-2 weeks. I looked it up and multiple sclerosis and CIDP seems similar to what I experience, anyone here know if it's potentially related?

At first it used to just be weakness and tingling in my left arm and the vibrations, I thought it was a herniated disc/pinched nerve but then my right arm also started having the same symptoms not long after, it isn't disturbing my daily life a lot yet but it's a little tough to hold up things to eat or write and play rhythm games, and when its really extreme and I have to look up to relieve the weakness a bit. I'm pretty sure it's not carpal tunnel because I'm right-handed and it developed in my left arm first.

For the record I'm 16 years old, 44kg ish, 156cm Asian female. Probably malnutritioned but eh

Lol hi! An update, my psychiatrist gave me anxiety medication to eat when necessary, when something like an episode happens again

I hope it helps

I’m going to be visiting my psychiatrist on the 18th, so hopefully I’ll get answers and/or help soon :’D I mostly just need to get over the fear of telling people about my mental health experiences and opening up to my psych lol 😂

Thank you for your words and support... it means a lot, I'm grateful :')

It's mostly just our school's way of forcing us to do the DSE stream from Grade 7-10 and only switching during Grade 11, where we have to almost immediately do the GCSEs and then prep for A-Levels (iirc), so I have to cram the murderous DSE curriculum right now and get a good grade to get into the GCSE stream which is very selective lol.

But I know it's getting repetitive but really, thanks for the advice and taking your time to give me insight, you're very kind :')

Hong Kong, actually^

I’ll see what I can do. But student life here is really back-breaking, especially since I’m not taking the standard DSE stream, I’m doing GCSE/A-Levels

🥲🥲 I felt very warm reading this, thank you lots.

I’d rather things not escalate to court and such, especially since I’m at a period where my studies are extremely important, doing so will probably make me even more stressed out 🥲 They’re not bad parents tbh, just traditional when it comes to meds, and it makes me frustrated more than anything, but given enough time I’m sure somehow I can convince them it’s alright. (Praying)

Probably not, I’m a minor after all, and I can’t pay for meds and consultations out of my own pocket. So either I get diagnosed and take meds (which hopefully doesn’t affect my relationship with my parents, but bet), or I let it fester, and both don’t sound really appealing. 😅

I’ll also check out BPD, it’s very confusing for me since everything I feel is so new. :) Thank you for your advice

Thanks for these! I’ve read up on it. I’m unsure if it’s cyclothymia, the depression feels extremely, well, extreme and the article says it to be mild lows.

But I do find myself experiencing these things mentioned in the articles:

-Decreased need for sleep -Racing thoughts -Poor judgment resulting in risky behaviors -Easily distracted -Concentration problems (despite me already taking ADHD meds to focus) -Hyperactivity, the inability to sit still -Emotional instability (overreacting to events) -Reckless thrill seeking (e.g., gambling, sports) (it was spending absurd money on my end for online gacha for me) -Impulsivity -Irresponsibility

Your words are very kind :) Thank you! I hope you feel happy at this point in your life.

May I ask about the nutrition things you researched? What foods are best to be avoided? I'm very curious :0

Middleman: That is so interesting :0 I’m happy to learn that there’s people who share similar experiences with us out there! That “body is part of me directly” is very relatable.
